Newsham on pole? Is that finally confirmed? I thought he had his fastest time disallowed?

I think his fastest time was disallowed, but his next best lap was still good enough for pole. Unless someone knows better, of course...

Also: hello, I'm not new here, but now I will write, as well as read. Good day to you!

Alright thanks. Didn't see his name drop down on the timing unlike when Shedden has his time disallowed, that's why I ask.

Should make for an interesting start to the season tomorrow.

And Chris James...

Welcome to the forum anyway!

Thank you kind sir.

And yes - I feared we might be in for a bit of a pit-lane brouhaha, a la Rockingham last year. I guess he assumed that everyone was on an in-lap like himself, but no excuse really...

Anyway, bring on 11.47am tomorrow! (And three point one five cheers for being unnecessarily specific!)

Chris James ruined that for Jordan, and its quite funny James talks the talk but its his team mate that seemingly walks the walk haha.

Great to see Newsham up there MG, i take back what i said, it looks a lot better without the white on it and with the NGTC front bumper

It's the fastest time up to that point that gets disallowed rather than the fastest of the session. He had a 50.5 lap disallowed but his next 3 laps were quicker.

Chris James - oh dear, oh dear, oh dear. Awful driving.

Not surprised an S2000 car got pole, but I am surprised which one did it.

Also, funny how Matt Neal's car never has the tech problems, but Shedden's does.

#66 Vectra? isn't #66 the Insignia of John Thorne? I'm guessing that's why he didn't make it out for qualifying. Just hope they can get it out on track tomorrow, It will be interesting how it compares to the other NGTC machines.

Nope, he binned it in FP1. Lost the back end and went hard into the barriers at Paddock Hill.

Team have admitted they have no budget for spares so even if it's fixable they may not have the parts. Remains to be seen if it's out tomorrow.

According to them on Twitter it "looks hopeful" that they'll be out for tomorrow. Hopefully they get to join the fun at some stage.

How can you be so critical so early? They even had to have a shakedown test yesterday as a lot of the cars had limited testing. Give them a chance.

According to the results on the TSL site, 8 of the 22 out in qualifying got docked fast times for exceeding the track limits - including Plato as well as Shedden and Newsham. It seems the powers that be are finally cracking down on driving standards - about time too! Let's hope they stick to that in the race and hand out penalties as deserved, not just to the backmarkers.

That session lasted 5 minutes before #66 dropped oil along the Cooper Straight and bring the session to an end

Indeed, however they have also said "£4k that's my whole parts budget done in one hit", so lets hope nothing else happens tomorrow.

Agreed

Neate and Plato had times disallowed twice, Shedden 3 times. Also 12 Clios, 6 Juniors and 4 Porsches lost times in their qualifying sessions. Lets see if drivers start to get the message for the rest of the year.
