Fancy embarassing yourself?

I'm not sure if this is correct forum etiquette, please excuse me if it isn't.

With the onset of weekends off (barring RallyX), how about participating in a charity kart enduro for Anthony Nolan Bone Marrow Trust on Sunday 1 December 2002.
It's at a little outdoor track called Filching Manor near Eastbourne, East Sussex (England).

If you're lucky, it'll just be freezing cold rather than freezing cold and wet!!

Please post reply or email me for more details.

QBF.

PS. If you compete, you can do you Smash and Nicey impression - "I do a lot of work for charity but don't like to talk about it" (in a Harry Enfield accent).

QBF,

Any Idea of costs mate? As a donor on the Anthony Nolan register I would like to try and help. Will they be encouraging new donors as well?

Hi Tony & Co.

Last time I did it (3 years ago) it cost a minimum of £25. You could make this figure out of your own pocket, sponsor money or both. If you paid over more than £50, you got a freebie (T-shirt). Sponosor forms are winging their way to me as we speak (I hope); I can confirm once received.

Well done for being a donor. I'm not sure if they'll be "converting" on the day, but it should be a good opporunity to pick up info on donating from people such as yourself.

Tim.

I'd be interested in taking part. I take it the karts are provided? When you say it's an enduro, is that a team enduro or a single driver enduro? How many to a team? What time/distance is it over?

Be funny to see lots of bright orange 'racesuits' racing round the track

What a great idea!

Sadly I am away that weekend or I would have put my name up the front of the list.

It struck me that we could try and organise a charity kart day of our own to raise funds for the Motor Racing Safety Fund?

*Sigh* wish we could hon, but Eastbourne isn't the easiest to get to - somewhere near Wales would be good if you're doing another one - then we could get the ferry over!

QBF,
I know some people think that all marshals are frustrated racing drivers, but do we really need to prove it?!
Still, "as it's for charidee mate", I'd certainly be interested. Can you let me know more as and when you have the details?

That'll be cool... But I dread to think of the carnage of a load of marshalls racing each other in karts, filling in their own observer reports and in general not practising what they preach on the bank!

Now that DOES sound like a good idea, penalising other drivers whilst racing myself. At least I would win that way!

Hi ppl.

Thanks for responses to date. At the moment, all the info I can give you is here http://www.anthonynolan.com/fundrais..._se/other.html under "2 Hour Go Karting Endurance Event". As of this morning, I am assured that there are still places (teams) available. I will post more info early next week when all the details have arrived on the doormat.

Talking of embarassing yourself, i know you marshalls are a bit fed up but i caught a group at Brands a couple of weeks ago line dancing. Oh you put your right leg in, your right leg out.
If you want to post this elsewhere please do.

That's just the "Bored and Cold" dance - I do that on post all the time - it stops your feet turning to solid lumps of ice!

Although when Doug does it, it becomes the incident dance for some reason! There's a little song that goes with it!

Hi ppl.

Forms arrived today, sans sponsor forms - I will be requesting these tomorrow. I will be at Brands this weekend on Saturday (2nd Nov), and maybe Sunday, so can let any interested parties have forms then. Alternatively, you may soon be receiving an email from me asking you to email me back if you would like the forms emailed to you sooner.

Nice photo pauldavid, and thanks for posting it.
I'm sure if the marshals had realised they were going to be on camera, they'd have formed a line "Lord of the Dance" style, although size 10 work boots don't quite have the same tap-tap of Michael (whatever his name is)
