I do find myself wondering if David Cheng is now wishing he'd taken the plunge and put together an LMP1 programme for 2018/19, as others have done.

Technical partnership signed with AMG on the road car side a couple of years ago, especially for the Vantage. Race engine development couldn't have been far behind.

Perhaps not the worst partnership, however I think it should really be an Aston lump in the nose of that car. I guess there could have been worst options, at least the car should sound good.

Daimler probably own more stock in Aston Martin than Ford does now (Ford has been a minority owner of AM since 2007). Ford owned stock valued $70 million after the 2007 sale.

Daimler is a 5% stakeholder in AM, and the group that controls the ownership own 90%, so someone else (maybe Ford, maybe not) also has a 5% stakeholding. And as it stands now, AM is fully privately held, though there's been rumors of an IPO (going to the stock market) or selling shares to another private investor to drum up cash.

With enough teams in LMP1 for this season, it's should be a good season. Shame Toyota couldn't have announced they were staying sooner, then they probably wouldn't have decided to go super season

They would have had to at some point because the ACO have said if you want to do Le Mans and you're not a ELMS or IMSA team, you need to commit to the full season.

Granted, if you're the ACO and Toyota only wanted to do a partial season, would you turn that down?

Not that I hope it to happen but would be kinda crazy if that Toyota broke down at Le Mans, the LMP2 scored points, and that driver eventually became the champion ahead of his crewmates.

No, only 2 or 3 driver crews are permitted for the whole of the WEC.

Are the most amateur teams moving from ELMS to WEC because they have less races in 2018, but it includes Le Mans? I mean, they would have longer trips to do, but less races in the same year, with maybe is good if you are an amateur with a bussiness to maintain.

It's going to be really hard for ELMS teams to get Le Mans invites next year with a full WEC field, a bunch of auto invites being used, and a ton of factory GT cars.
