Work Off Your Christmas Dinner by entering this meeting.

There are 2 classes each having practice and 2 races:

1. Nat B Caterham Graduate & Acadamy Trophy Race.
2. Nat B OPen Single Seater Trophy Race - up to 2599cc.

Single seater entry is a bit thin on the ground, which for a £100 entry fee (ask nicely and the late fee might be waived!) is a bit disappointing. As far as I know, there is a 15 minute qualifying and two 15 minute races for your money.

Let's get some Jedis, Monos and FFords on the grid.

What are the regulations? Is it just standard MSA single seater regs or is ride height free, i.e not 40mm

Entry form says "open single seater trophy" - I'm guessing "open" means free/no series regs; as long as it meets Blue Book rules.

If it is a single seater complying with the blue book less than 2500cc, it is eligible. If you're thinking of entering a FRenault you'll have some Club F3 cars to play with.

I don't have a blue book with me, but i thought standard MSA regs state single seaters run at 40mm rendering club F3 & F renault cars inelligable unless ran well outside their designed parameters.

if there are no ride hieght rules I could get interested, I'll start looking for a full power ECU

Well, we have a couple of Club F3 cars this year and also had a couple last year, plus Rossi in the FRenault. AFAIK they were on standard set up for their class with no changes to ride height - but I am not 100 per cent certain.

And it was a mono spec F3 car running at 40mm that won the first race... and there was me thinking that you would never make them go round a corner at that hight!!... and that mono had inferior driving standards??

Not sure if my memory serves me correctly as I was still suffering from the effects of the tyre wall, Race 1, lap 1, but wasn't Rossi a country mile quicker than all other cars in both races but unfortunately was drawn a rear end grid slot?

As he should have been... I was not there, I just remeber reading the Autosport report whilst sunning my self on a beach. No such joy this year unfortunately!

Anyhows, lets not go down this route, it was meant to be a jest at previous threads on the forum!!! Horses for Corses I say!!

hi all, im sure its a cracking event but to be honest I cant think of a worse thing to do the day after Christmas

it means you cant get too drunk or anything. I couldn't even face spectating either, especially as i should be seeing the family, not to mention the cold weather.
Where did the name come from aswell ?

It is interesting to read ASP's preview of the Plumb pudding meeting on the new www.ff1600news.com website. He asks the question on why you can have 20 caterhams entered and only 4 single seaters. I personally think it is a mixture of 3 things.

1) How many Caterhams need to be rebuilt over the winter like a single seater does?
2) In a caterham you can turn up on your own, start your own car and put your own seat belts on. In a single seater it is not so simple as most people need help with the belts and also someone to take the jump battery out before you move. It is hard enough for most people to get permission from the wife/girlfriend/bit on the side to go racing on Boxing day, never mind having to get a friend to do the same!!!
3) Caterhams season finished a while ago where the FF1600 racers have had the WHT, Festival, Carnival etc so you have to draw the line somewhere.

I did this meeting a few years ago, I managed to do it as I was about to sell the car, a FF2000 and was in the process of rebuilding my FF1600, otherwise normaly my car is in bits over the winter.

But it was a cracking good meeting, my friends who came along realy enjoyed it and have asked each year since if I am doing it again!

I did think about going however after a heavy day ploughing through the food and drink it was somewhat later than planned that I emerged from my bed!

So did anyone go?

If so what was the entry like and the racing?
