Pippa Mann, World Series by Renault driver, signed with Panther Racing today. She is the second British driver to sign with Panther for the 2009 Indy Lights season in less than 10 days. I must say....I was quite surprised by the news as I haven't been particularly impressed by Mann, but I'm guessing money speaks louder than results.
For those wondering who the second driver was: Martin Plowman from the F3 Euro Series also signed with Panther Racing last week. |

Pippa is another Milka. Finishes at the back no matter what the series. She is a driver one describes as "competed" in rather than "raced" in. Honestly haven't paid much attention to WSR this year, so maybe the worm turned? In any case I hear it's her daddy that continues to plow the money in like a coal stoker on the Titanic.

Sadly the worm did not turn. She is a very nice lady, and always friendly at events, but she need's to give it up in single seaters. She's had a few outings in the Porsche UK Cup, i think she should stick to that.

HVM Racing decided to take their new Indy Lights car to Putnam Park today.
Andrew Prendeville was announced as their current test driver. We may just see Prendeville back in an Indy Lights car for 2009, despite his announcement in July stating he would pursue other opportunities. |

Both Fabio Leimer (International Formula Master) and Marco Bonanomi (World Series by Renault) will be testing with Sam Schmidt Motorsports Monday morning at Putnam Park. Leimer was awarded the test as part of the "top rookie" prize for Formula Master after champion Michael Ammermüller turned down the opportunity. Anyone with insight into why Ammermüller turned down the test? Press states personal reasons. The only other reason I could think of is that he is set on GP2, F1....regardless of his career aspirations, a test in a Indy Lights car would seem like good experience.

2008 US F2000 Champion Anders Krohn will be testing for Sam Schmidt Motorsports in the coming weeks.
It sounds as if 2008 Atlantic Champion Markus Niemela will also be testing with SSM. |

Sam Schmidt is working with the Indy Lights series in an effort to provide junior formula champions the chance to test an Indy Lights car. A wise move in my mind. |

Sort of old news by now, but Spanish F3 pilot Gustavo Yacaman signed with Sam Schmidt Motorsports for 2009.

Scary news...but we may even have the privilege of watching a stuntman in the Indy Lights series for 2009.
