GT-Driver should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Camaro slicks?

My little brother runs a 2010 Camaro SS. It has some tuning and up graded Eibach handling package.

he runs on street tyres (Front: 245-45-ZR20 / Read: 275-40-ZR20). For trackday applications he wants to fit it slick tyres. The problem is we COULD NOT find slicks on 20 inch wheels! Any one can tell me if we can get slicks on 20 inch tyres?

If he goes down to 19 Inches this would reduce the contact area and thus grip, so that means he needs to fit a wider tyres to compensate. Is there any advice in here? should we go for this? if so how much wider?

Cheers,

the difference in contact patches will be minimal, in anycase slicks are so much more grippy than road tyres your have more grip even if you do end up with a slightly smaller contact patch

What is the overall diameter of the street tyres he runs at the moment? I am guessing in the region of 720mm on the rear. You can buy 18" race tyres with that overall diameter - and it is overall diameter (and tyre pressure of course) that determines contact patch area - not the wheel diameter.

Avon offer 365/720/18 for example which would suit the rear and something like a 320/705 18 on the front would keep the existing f/r balance.
