That article is attempting to discredit ESPN in ways anyone who watches ESPN's coverage of NFL games would know is ridiculous. They aren't allowed interviews that interfere with the original broadcaster's rights there either, so being blocked from trackside interviews makes sense contractually. It's not a slight against ESPN but more likely included in the contract that DURING the event only the broadcaster (Fox or NBC for tv and MRN/PRN for radio) can do interviews. ESPN may not show as long a highlight package but it won't be kicked off of SportsCenter any time soon. And ESPN has to be more selective about what they bid on as they apparently are getting their budgets reviewed by Disney and it has been reflected in the number of both TV and radio personnel that have left for the competition.
NBC won't need to do anything but move some of the events to tape delay, and/or to cNBC which they already did with some F1 events this season. ND football will always remain on the OTA NBC station and for the Olympics they moved coverage around all of the NBC family. The concerns about NBCSports not being high profile won't be as big a hurdle for them as some networks with Comcast being in the ownership group to increase its profile within their network. On others it could be tough, but it is already in the most common digital tier for most networks. It just needs some advertising which is much easier than getting the channel added or moved to a lower subscription tier. |

Here in Latin America, SportsCenter and Central Fox are 90% football (especially Argentine / Mexican, Spanish, Italian and English), which both show live. So I can't tell if either ignores the sports broadcasted by their rivals. |

Comcast/NBC is doing exactly what The Mouse did with ESPN2, put a bunch of big level NASCAR and other motorsport content on it to advance the overall standing of the channel.
NASCAR fans like Indycar or F1 fans are very persistent in contacting their Cable providers and demanding for the channels/tiers/costs. But, they outnumber them by a huge percentage in the U.S. More Big League NASCAR on NBCSN: More homes and higher tiers for the Channel. |

I would like a secondary audio of "track ambiance" including just cars, crowd and the track PA system. Ya know, like I was there at the race myself.

So Texas, Daytona, Pocono, Martinsville and Bristol aren't all as different as any 5 tracks in any other series? And that doesn't include two road courses. Not usually a NASCAR apologist but don't make claims that have no basis in truth. Listen to teams and any will tell you the difficulty in their building and/or tuning a car to be good at a certain track. And the tracks you list are similar in visual layout but have fairly different racing in practice, Texas and Vegas can be very similar but I wouldn't confuse a race at Atlanta or Charlotte with the other two.

They put on similar racing but that's where the similarities end.
Even if you built identical, down to science, ovals with one in say, Michigan, and one in Virginia, they would still over time become different due to different weathering patterns and bumps. |

If there's any series with the 'same' driving for a bunch of tracks it's Indycar on flat out ovals (ie Fontana, Indy, Old Chicagoland, Texas with old aero)

That's what I thought it said too, and was VERY confused. If it really was Allen and Wally they'd almost look like brothers.

Nascar Cup races on NBC? Nationwide Series out of ESPN? You may not need to wait for 2014:

As long as Motors TV still get Nationwide i'm not too fussed. But if I lost that as well as not having acess to Cup series then I really would be p****d.
