It is a badly written article, which raises more questions than supplies answers. The gist of the story seems to be that there seems to be a budget issue at DJR on some level at the squad. There is likely little point in being chief technogumbie if the budget doesnt allow for new parts or thinking to be incorporated into the cars

Of interest from the Townsville round, one of the DJR cars had Payce Consolidated as title sponsor , and not Wilson Security.

Does one thing have something to do with the other?

Doesn't help really that David Wall is a peanut and Pye has largely done nothing since going there.

And... Is Campbell Little leaving for "budgetary" reasons the same as a manager leaving "to spend more time with his family"?

I think it's probably a pretty honest reason for leaving. Their financial issues are well-documented, although I'm a little surprised as I thought the Wilson money for this year would have covered the operating budget to get them through this year and the new investors would help Dick work out the long-term debt issues.

Although the written off car won't have helped, as has been posted previously if there's no money to pay for parts upgrades, is there a point paying someone like Campbell a significant salary.

Seems like sponsorship is the issue.

Wilson, Payce, etc may not be sufficient (or perhaps no longer part of the team next year), for what Penske would like to achieve.

Reading that made my eyes bleed. The ability to read and write English must not be a requirement to work as a journalist these days

I'm struggling to understand why Penske would need to buy into an existing team. It's not something that he's done before, or needed to do before. that is unless he can get DJR for less than what VESA want for 2 licences, which is quite possible.

Penske never does anything for free, so either manufacturer funding, B2B business deals or commercial sponsorship or a mix of all or some will be needed with full funding plus some, before he pulls the trigger.

He's not like Aunt Betty who spends a truckload of cash out of her pocket hoping to figure it out as they go along.
