Final race should be in Europe, preferably Brands Hatch alongside BTCC. Just daydreaming.

That would be cosmic to see those cars going round the GP loop, but you're right, it probably won't happen anytime soon

final round should be at Enna Pergusa, that would end pretty messy though.

Well, the FIA kicked Robert Huff out of the TCR Macau race because this year he ran in WTCC and not a 2L touring car... no wonder why TCR left.

Is there not a UK TCR round planned at all? I know in 2016 there was a 24H of Silverstone which allowed TCR cars to run, however is that the best the UK is going to get in terms of TCR exposure?

I think that Gow and Lotti made some kind of deal not to get TCR cars in UK.

TCR International seems to me more like a showcase of the TCR concept and the UK isn't really the market for TCR. There's a stable touring car category at roughly the same performance level as it is. Nevertheless, maybe the BTCC might be wise to adopt TCR alongside NGTC at some point in the future.

From what I understand the NGTC cars are maybe a touch faster than TCR, but I cannot be certain. So any adoption would mean some kind of performance balancing like they had with the old BTC / S2000 cars.

Well yes, but that is inevitable. Fortunately the regulations aren't too dissimilar, with roughly the same weight, just a little more power for NGTC cars. Anyway, I'm merely suggesting it should be considered.

Nothing against TCR but why would anyone even consider them in BTCC. I could understand it if BTCC was struggling for entries and needed TCR cars to fill out the grid, but that's just not the case.

I suppose you need to look at the costs. At the moment NGTC appears to be sustainable (at least for the richer end of the grid) however from what I understand the costs of TCR are quite a bit cheaper, though I keep hearing differing figures so I can't be sure of the real costs involved.

Does anyone have current estimates for cost of a car build and the cost to run a car under both regulations?

The dated wiki page on NGTC says 200.000 pounds plus 25.000 per engine, that's close to 300.000 Euros a car compared to 130.000 for a TCR Audi or 90.000 for a TCR eligible Peugeot. For cars that punch the same weight that is a huge advantage for TCR, especially when there will be used cars with proper gearbox available and they don't mess up the Bop.

Where NGTC shines though is the reusability of the spec RML parts, even in different cars, even brands. If TCR g
becomes a "whohasthenewest" race like GT3 that might balance the NGTC disadvantage.

As much as I prefer TCR over NGTC (especially the looks), when it comes to BTCC i'd say: Don't fix what ain't broken.

BTW: Did anyone notice that STARD said their KIA has 350 bhp instead of 330 bhp? That's closer to NGTC figures, while TCR has supposedly better suspension (there was a comparison between the BTCC Honda and the Cup Seat a couple of years ago) and a bigger splitter. I'm very curious about a laptime comparison between TCR and NGTC but at least on tight tracks I would put my money on TCR, on high speed tracks on NGTC.

Interesting. I thought I recall a figure of £300-400,000 for the initial NGTC builds, and then each one after that gets cheaper...?

Josh Files wants to drive TCR Germany AND TCR International with Honda and Target, if there are no clashing dates.

All TCR national championships would run on the same weekends, to avoid clashes with TCR International Series, right?

At least this year that wasn't the case. Actually, TCR Germany ran as a support to TCR International at Oschersleben.

But you can compete if both of them if you can pay it.
