rx-guru should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Seen that nowadays North America and South America are rated as two different continents there are still three in the game to follow the FIA rules for World championships.

Three different continents is allright for a World Championship? First i thought it was three outside of Europe?

I think north and south were always seen as different continents.

Don't understand why Germany has 2 rounds.

Dunno what you've learned in school, but during my school days the World had just five continents, of which the whole of America was one.

Germany has no two rounds, Hockenheim has one (same as Barcelona rather than Spain) and Germany has one at Buxtehude.
Same situation as in 2015. I for myself don't need Hockenheim, but that's how it is. See here: http://www.fiaworldrallycross.com/_mediaimages/8131.jpg

Don't know what you have learned in school but Hockenheim and Buxtehude are both in Germany.

How many continents could be confusing Eddi...
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Continent

The 2 German rounds could be seen like the F1 German round, and the Europa round. Both in Germany, just named different. They even used to name it Luxembourg Grand Prix, and the race was in Germany... What's in a name.

Think "Barcelona" has more impact then "Spain".

Well Turkey has gone no shock there I guess

Replaced by Latvia, a better idea more in context with rallycross I guess and also wealthy.

I do find Argentina and Canada odd though I must admit, but I reckon IMG are stumping money aswell there to cover their FIA world deal, as there cant be much interest.
Surprised Germany get two if you like as Austria might have with Stohl and a decent track.

But presume Hockenheim paid a chunk for it so get a stay of execution and they a re maybe presuming DTM fans will go along coz of Ekky

Quote from an FIA press release of September 2013: "Following the proposal by the Promoter of the FIA European Rallycross Championship, the WMSC has approved the creation of a new FIA World Rallycross Championship from 2014, on the condition the calendar is based on a total of 11 or 12 events, with 9 or 10 European events plus one event in Asia or Africa and one event on the American continent." Note the "or" between Asia and Africa.

Now when there is no round in either Asia or Africa, does it still count as a World Championship?

Why not, as long as North America and South America are seen as two different continents (according to the 'Encyclopædia Britannica' and other sources) by FIA.

Considering the championship is "growing", 2016 is less of a world championship compared to previous years. Saying that, Turkey isn't really Asia in my book... two events in Germany is questionable considering there are so many excellent rallycross tracks in Europe. Any ideas as to why USA isn't considered by FIA considering GRC has a decent field of supercars, I guess running very similar regs?

FIA rally director Jarmo Mahonen says that WRC has focused too much Europe. they need to go BRIC countries.

GRC is pretty much on its last legs, I doubt it will survive past a few more years so eventually WRX will have a race in America, they would not do it currently as it is a conflict of interests and also Eriksson pretty much supplies half the field in GRC with Lites too and will no dooubt have a say in what goes on. If Block and Foust quit it will die.

Turkey was a total waste of time, but then I think having two events in Germany however you name it is ridiculous too.

But the issue is not that countries do not want to run WRX, it is IMG demanding tens of thousands to host events, otherwise you would have the proper tracks like Valkenswaard, Maasmechelen, Nyirad running them. Hungary ran the first year remember? And then went to dust. They lost money I expect, same as Greinbach, Sosnova and the theirs did not even try as they knew they would lose money.

Their issue is the host fees, they would not make enough money, or have to charge fans a hell of a lot just to TRY and break even from their gates. Look at how the price at Lydden has rocketed, and you KNOW Doran is taking a hit on that probably.

This is why IMG are trying to concentrate on cities, that way local councils and MSA groups are funding the events rather than individual tracks.

Basically a way of removing the tracks power in running events.

Progress I think you call it. Not dismantling 50 years of history then?

How so? Several teams are joining GRX every year. Volkswagen, Ford and Subaru are supporting it because it's not that expensive.

It is not expensive in comparison to what really?

No one in America is interested in rallying, the main motorsports in the USA are NASCAR, off road motocross and perhaps Indycar, not a lot else.

Manufacturers have budgets to spend and they think young poeple watch rallycross so throw a few mill at it, far cheaper than advertising on tv and you get something for your money in theory.

I feel with the championship not growing in terms of other far flung circuits it could do with a few more big named to push it on to that next level. Or will we see more manufacturer involvement. Petter's 2015 ds3 is up for sale on Facebook, works team next year?

Despite the 2016 calendar not being approved by the FIA WMSC , Lydden have emailed saying buy your tickets for the event now. Weekend pass is "now only £50" (save £15)

Lol, hardly cheap now is it!

So that means they are looking at 30 plus quid on Sunday and 25 for the first day.

Nice touch
