Reported in Autosport Strakka are looking to expand, they're looking to run a second P1 and/or a FR3.5.

They say because it's difficult to compete with factories they'll race where the best privateer P1 competition can be found whether that be the WEC or ALMS.

So that's the two top P1 privateer squads threatening to move to the ALMS within a couple of days of each other.

Losing them would be a huge hit for the WEC. Would be ironic to see them go to the ALMS to tread water until the class is written off a year later. But you can't blame them for wanting to be a bit more in the mix.

Why go the Formula Renault route ..... wouldnt that be spreading out their resorces ?

Some encouraging noises coming from JRM:

Looking at a possible two-car expansion for '13, upgrades (albeit no hybrid) and also looking ahead to new regs racing in '14 and '15.

Leventis bought a 3.5 for private test sessions. If he has the resources, he might as well make a business out of it instead of using it for personal use only and losing loads of money. Who knows, maybe he wants to race in 3.5 himself.

Looks like Ford might have just pulled the plug on the WRC.

Albeit with an extremely vague tweet:

Seen as they clearly don't want to win the drivers championship next year, maybe they should evaluate another project, something that also takes into account the history of the brand and its racing heritage. Something that allows them to showcase new technology and not simply slapping 'Ecoboost' on everything.

Sad for M-Sport indeed.
And by reading the Press release from M-Sport, i don't think we should expect to see Ford in another top end motorsport category.

Indeed.
But rather they realize it, cut down and come back stronger. Than staying on a spending role waiting for the economy to turn and save them.
Something which seems to take a while to do :/

That note seems to imply that JRM have not been running the wide fronts on their HPD this season...very interesting!

That seem's very strange, I never noticed they weren't. I also assumed all P1's now used full width front tyres...

The HPDs and the Oak Pescarolo currently do not use full-width fronts. Neither of the HPDs.

VW coming more than balances this. It never felt like Ford was really serious about this.
