Betta out, Vodafone in?
According to AA 888 could lose Betta Electrical due to restructual changes at the company and have Vodafone as a replacement.
Roland Dane is obviusly denying this. Vodafone livery would look pretty good i reckon. |

This was mentioned on another forum named after a piece of track on Mount Panorama about 2 weeks ago and according to one of the members there Roland had kicked the lawyers cages to seek and destroy whoever started this rumour, so I hope AA are prepared to give up their sources if this is true.
Fairly drastic way to deny something!! |

Given Vodafone's current financial position I doubt that they will be looking to any big sponsorships in the near future, more likely pulling some that already exist.

Seems the path is filled with gardens and trees but no truth.... The Vodafone angle may still fit the profile, LG makes a shedload of mobile phones each year, so a tie up with Betta (as sales outlet) and Vodafone (as phone carrier) might make some real sense... |

It would be very hard to shake the TKR establishment out of Vodafone. Its a great deal from their perspective
HRT tried, and they aren't alone.... |

TKR are sponsored by Vodafone NZ and so it's an internal Vodafone issue and therefore possible to have two different teams sponsored by two different Voda countries.
Vodafone pulled out of Ferrari - yep. To join McLaren. They're probably not saving money there. |

Vodafone's sponsorship of a Holden team would not disqualify them from sponsoring a Ford team, or even being the naming rights sponsor of both. Remember in 2003, Betta was the naming rights sponsor for both Betta Team Brock and Team Betta Electrical (Briggs Motorsport)? Also, I notice that both the HRT and WPS cars this year are carrying Dodo sponsorship. Never mind the cross-manufacturer sponsorship of the Dunlops, Castrols, Mobils and a great many others.
A red liveried Falcon? I'd like to see that! |

You'd like to see it? There has been plenty of red Falcon's, even the factory entries were once red.

Not much red on them though, unless you count the red 'o' in Mobil.......
Not sure it really matters though, more often than not in motorsport the 'factory' backed teams don't run predominently the manufacturers colours |

Ok, i had a go today at doing a more detailed version of HRT 433's Vodafone-ised 888 livery (as HRT433 said, his was quite rushed, so i tried to adapt it onto the profile view of the car usually used for liveries, and got rid of all referenced 3 Betta Electrical. Here it is:
It would look more 'flash' with proper silver paint...kinda hard to do on a PC ....haha Mitch |
