Thanks, sorry should of looked harder. Glad the event is still on

Just wondering ahead of the Ipswich meeting how things were?

The Ipswich meeting is on this Saturday. Last I heard we should get at least 10 cars entered and racing starts from 18:45.

I did the last two late model races in Europe: the World Cup meeting in Venray, Holland and the Bud200 at Warneton (part of the Euro Banger Champs weekend). We had good turnouts of cars at both meetings, with 23 at Venray! The meetings were fun although race control and organisation at Venray need to be improved.

Personally, I can't see us having a single european series again as Camso and Venray are moving ahead with plans for their own championships next year. Lydden Hill is scheduled for next year so at least one UK round!

Anybody know what's happening with these two series for 2014, the camso and late model V8's. Is either series coming to the UK in 2014, either Ipswich or Lydden. Been trying to look through the Spedeworth fixtures for Foxhall and have not found either series yet?

The Lydden date has been agreed for June 21/22 and will feature the same format as last year.

Camso V8 will be at Lydden Hill as Mr Birley said.

I have no news of Ipswich but I suspect it is very unlikely; last year had a bad turn out and many of the European drivers aren't happy to travel.

With the Lydden oval meeting approaching, I was wondering what was happening with the Late Models/CAMSO V8's?

Are there two separate series still?

Are there any plans to race in the UK?

“Unfortunately they are not coming this year as there has been a small dispute between the two European promoters. The V8 sprint cars will be appearing, as will a good field of Outlaw hot rods and super rods. The usual MN saloons, Cannons Tin Tops and intermarque silhouettes will be there, where no doubt Malcolm Blackman, Matt simpson, Lewis Smith and Chris Brockhurst will be battling away.”

Thanks, for the info. Always a meeting to look forward to. Shame about the "V8's". Hope the dispute can be overcome, and fingers crossed they get to return one day.

Excuse the double post, but two questions.

1/ Are the Late Models running anywhere in the UK in 2016

2/ and the Lydden Oval/Truck meeting they often raced at in June. Is that happening in 2016? Just asking as the last Lydden car meeting in Oct 2015 got cancelled, and not seen any dates for Car Racing at Lydden for 2016 yet?

Lydden currently has a 100 decibels noise limit which is making car racing very difficult this year.

What's the limit at Brands Rod?

The difference between 105 and 100 is almost a 30% reduction in noise.

That would be quite a drop then - I assume that's part of the reason that Combe isn't used by some clubs? We're running a 100db limit at Brands this coming weekend (but that's normal for events we do). I imagine Lydden must have some exception clauses (number of 'noisy' days?) as the rallycross cars are surely over the 100db limit?

So far as I know only three exemption days, hence the problem for the clubs

Wow, that is a problem - they're going to struggle to run their rallycross meetings with only 3 loud days. Hopefully they can get their planning applications through and can then run more loud days (and sensibly police the other days so there aren't breaches that cause complaints).

Whack mufflers on the cars and get them below 100? Not terribly difficult.

That's just sad.

Why the sudden change? Was it a condition of planning permission for the proposed new buildings? 3 days or 3 weekends? As the 3 Rallycross meetings account for 5 days?

I'm still surprised that anyone can hear Lydden Track noise above traffic on the A2.

Maybe take a leaf out of "Wimbledon Stadiums" book, and run in the winter, when people aren't sitting in their gardens, and have their windows closed to keep the warmth in.

Sadly Lydden's owners have sold their soul to rallycross for one meting a year!

I do get it I suppose they are a rallycross family, but it can hardly generate much of an income, the south east racing scene was bubbling along nicely and a last remnant really of local club racing other than Combe.

And it's hardly like rallycross cars are quiet, certainly no quieter than club race cars.

As for Late Models, well they are simply not suited to racing in the UK and only a few places abroad, cut losses and tie in with Whelen NASCAR I say.

When you think of what all Bill Chesson stood for with regard to Grass Roots Motorsports of all kinds, from the 3 in 1 meetings, SPC Rallycross, its a crying shame there is not one circuit or oval race on the 2016 calender.

I still do not understand why and where these new noise regulations have come from. There were already strict curfew times at Lydden, so why were these additional restrictions deemed necessary?
