But Road America doesn't need the WEC, it's the opposite. WEC has to prove it self here.

I'm hoping for another crap attendance so that they'd ditch that circuit for proper one as soon as possible.

Indeed. Unfortunately, the switch to a Saturday race will mean they can say they had the same number of attendees as TUSC, even if they all leave before the WEC begins. So however many are there will be listed as WEC attendance, probably a 400% increase over 2013 or something daft.

Pfff you would have to be really dumb to watch the TUSC and not stick to the WEC. I was so excited for this race way before the corvette showed up (cause I only care for LMP1!!!) But them showing up is pretty great!
WAIT!!!!! ESM enters FIA WEC at COTA!!!! and scales back TUSC entry!! Heck yeah!! http://sportscar365.com/lemans/wec/e...ck-tusc-entry/ |

That report also says that as well as ESM and Corvette, 'At least one additional U.S.-based team has also entered the race'
Any ideas? Tracy Krohn's Ferrari comes to mind, or maybe a Viper? |

IIRC, Dempsey were talking about doing the WEC race in the 991 they used at Le Mans, but I think that's the chassis that ProSpeed are going to be using for the rest of the season. I suspect it's more likely to be the Krohn Ferrari... |

I would expect either Krohn, Houston is his home base and good race to bring in business partners, or Viper to show off and try to sell a car. Any teams we think could be open to jumping in a Viper for the WEC '15? I'm thinking Vette's whole reason for running is showing off the Vette to Labre and others in WEC trim for next year. Possibly the Taylor boys trying for a LM appearance in a Vette as well as either WTR or those two bringing on Konica/Minolta and experience to a GTE-Am team.

I still think Corvette's presence is there because
a) For the first time ever the (non-LM) series will have atual US television coverage b) They are already there so why not... |

option B to me, and more important, to acquire a lot of data to have more knowledge of the car performances in a "WEC scenario". It would be interesting to know if the C7R entered in WEC will be using the same michelin compound usually used by corvette racing in TUSC races or the michelin compound used by the other WEC european teams

I am interested to see how much more distance the P2 cars in the WEC cover in 2h45 than the P2 cars in the TUSCC race.

That'll be difficult to judge because of the cautions.
The lap times will be more interesting. Last year's fastest race laps (quali had incomparable data): 1:47.375 - WEC LMP1 1:53.721 - ALMS LMP1 1:54.559 - WEC LMP2 1:57.432 - ALMS LMP2 1:59.735 - ALMS LMPC 2:00.026 - Grand-Am DP 2:03.520 - WEC LMGTE-PRO 2:04.830 - WEC LMGTE-AM 2:05.053 - ALMS GTE 2:09.009 - Grand-Am GT 2:13.499 - ALMS GTC 2:17.876 - Grand-Am GX Last edited by Deleted; 9 Aug 2014 at 18:37. |

Last years Rolex weekend was much cooler than the ALMS weekend. The ALMS weekend also had off and on rain showers that kept washing the track. COTA track surface is very sensitive to temp for fast lap times.. hotter it is, slower you're going.
It also depends how the officials call "short cutting". There's 3 places on the track you can short cut that add up to around 1 second in terms of overall lap time. -mike |

Mm. I would (and only would) imagine that the WEC teams, accustomed to Grade 1 asphalt parking lot circuits around the world, would practice constant corner short cutting way more than most of the ALMS teams, mainly used to pure North American venues with grass and gravel. And therefore more importantly I'd imagine ACO/FIA being more lenient on acting such matters than IMSA

Doubt it, seem to remember some cars actually breaking because of these. |
