MG Car Club stopping running race meetings?

We have our Alfa Romeo Owners Club General meeting this weekend - we've actually got 20+ members asking to join via Zoom In the 10 years or so I've been involved with the Club management, we have increased membership by over a third to nearly 4.5K, but it has to be said that the motorsport side is relatively low key.


We sponsor to a small extent the ARCA series, which runs with 750MC, but that has struggled to get more than 20 runners all year. Julius Thurgood has tried hard with the Classic Alfa Challenge, with HRDC, but again struggles for numbers. Some years back I tried running a 4-race series for AROC, and lost the Club quite a bit of money, having to cancel the last race through lack of entries........The people who took part enjoyed it - there just weren't enough of them...and circuit costs have gone up a lot since then!


Long term Club members talk of when the Club put on AROC-only trackdays at Donington.....and say we should do that again. They obviously haven't looked at MSV hire charges lately I'm now looking at doing some deal with (say) Javelin to enable us to get a few members an affordable trackday experience........
