Malcolm Smith should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Another great event, for twenty-five Scottish Classics, at Croft last weekend.
Ten cars joined thirteen HSCC pre-66 saloons for two races (A). The other fifteen had two races with nine HSCC modports (B).

Current championship leader, and sponsor Edinburgh Watch Company driver of the day, Alastair Baptie, was highest placed in both (A) races,
winning the second outright in his Fiat X1/9. Iain Mitchell, Vauxhall Nova, and Paul Bowers, Fiat 128 Coupe, were second and third respectively in both races.

John Kinmond, Rover SD1, was highest placed in the first of the (B) races. Baptie came second in his MGBV8 with Mark Campbell, Triumph TR5 third.
In the second race Andrew Graham, TR7V8, was highest placed Scottish car, followed by John Kinmond and Baptie third.

Final two races this season are at Knockhill on 8th October.

Alastair Baptie is the 2023 Scottish Classics overall champion. His third title came after a season of winning his class at every event in his Fiat X1/9.

Second and third were taken by Andy Graham and Charlie Cope. Fourth overall, in his first season of racing, was MGBV8 driver Barry Eastaugh.
The top six was completed by Euan Anderson and Paul Bowers.

The final event at Knockhill was subject to torrential rain which led to qualifying being cancelled.
Cars lined-up for the first race in championship order. Graham took victory in his TR7V8 from Baptie.
Adam Kinmond’s Rover Vitess was third, just ahead of the Peugot 205GTi of Steve Sadler, who came from the back of the grid.
Eastaugh was fifth, followed by Andrew Kinmond, making a guest appearance in a TVR Vixen.

Graham also won race two, ahead of Eastaugh, Sadler, Andrew Kinmond and Baptie. Sixth was the immaculate Ginetta G4R of Colin Calder.
The remaining positions were taken by John Kinmond, Mini; Adam Kinmond; Jimmy Crow, Scimitar Coupe; Paul Bowers, Fiat 128 Coupe;
Paul Green, Fiesta XR2; Ian Morton, Austin A40 and Richard Cooper, Ginetta G15.

Sponsor Edinburgh Watch Company proprietor, Jonathan Gilbert, presented the driver of the day award to Steve Sadler.

Five drivers from Scottish Classics, listed below, attended the HSCC Walter Hayes Meeting allcomers races on 4th and 5th November.

Link to video of race two below.
Excellent coverage, with excitement from beginning, especially for Bowers, after 30 seconds, to avoid an errant Metro.
His enjoyment continued, swapping places with Nicola Burnside in an MG Ashley Midget.
Close racing too between Adam Kinmond and Rupert West, Ford Mustang.

In the damp morning qualifying, John Kimmond looked more like he was practicing for a drift competition around Luffield.
