Donington Events 2011 calendar revisions

Just had a email circular from Donington advising that the events calendar has changed and a few events have dropped off the list.

For some reason my notebook has decided to play up at the same time so I'm not finding it easy to compare the old and new schedules.

The mail seems to suggest an earlier end to the season than originally planned and that winter developments can therefore start sooner than orinally expected.

Anyone out there have a full comparison of the old and new calendar?

I don't think any meetings are cancelled .. The wording on the email is saying major events and clubbie type events are not listed on that..

Not sure about that. Their website list is titled:

Calendar of Major Events 2011

As said I may well be reading it wrong but it's not very clear either way.

If that's the case then what's the point of the email? None of the 7 events listed re on new dates, so what exactly is the change.

Email says they are reducing the number of race days which implies events have been cancelled.

FIM World Endurance seems to have disappeared from August.

Is AMOC considered to be a Major Event or is it there because it is close and 2 days?

No doubt we will find out soon.

Earlier this season (and as in prior seasons more often than not) the DP web site listed no club meetings - just Doninton promoted events and majors where DP were not necessarily the main promoters but were involved due to the high profile of the event.

A couple of months ago (maybe a little longer) the club racing events were added to the on-line calendar.

There are other events, track days and similar for example, that do not appear on the calendar. In the past there have also been non motor sport related activities (Charity Bike rides for example) that have also not appeared on the Events calendar.

Presumably the organising clubs will already know and will be advising people accordingly?

I have a suspicion that there is more to come on this story. Wildly overbooked on "noisy" days and now having to cancel some dates (or try for weasel words to re-brand some meetings?)

The only cancellation before now is the Superleague meeting. I guess that some club meetings are going to get canned.

Regards

Jim

In regards to the superleague meeting .. The superleague race was cancelled but the meeting is now a club meet with caterhams and karts.. This has not been cancelled at the moment... As of this morning some of the organising clubs had not been contacted by Donington ... Read into that what you wish..

Just to clarify what I have been told.. 23 July BRSCC cancelled .. But 6/7 August (the superleague date) still goes ahead but only as a clubbie, no superleague as that got moved eons ago.. And this is now being run as a quiet day.

We've been told that the brscc 6/7 aug meeting is cancelled (from kart organisers).. What is the quiet days maximum noise limit? If it's 100db guess it can still go ahead, seems to of left a lot of people in confusion.

The meeting dated 6/7 august is still on..
Also the 2 BRSCC meetings dated 15/16 October and 4/5 November are still on despite the report in Autosport saying they're cancelled..

I do hope all this confusion is sorted out quickly. I certainly wouldn't want to be one of the gate staff if a meeting is cancelled but everyone else thinks it's on... and I definitely don't want to have to reschedule my next three months of weekends at short notice.

Who's got the absolute, accurate calendar? It seems nobody has

I suspect (and this is only my opinion) that this may rattle on for a while. The clubs that have hired the circuit will be in contract with the circuit and I suspect there may be some arguements over the cancelling of dates.

I've also heard that the BARC meeting on 1st October is still going ahead, although we were still waiting for absolute confirmation as negotiaions are ongoing.

Found this on Donington's website;

22.06.11

2011 Events Calendar Update

Donington Park Racing Ltd is in the process of submitting a planning application to vary the conditions of its operating permission. If we are successful, the circuit will be able to run an increased number of racing events throughout the year.

We are optimistic about the outcome of our application and we are working closely with the local Authorities and our stakeholders. Whilst our application is pending it has been necessary to cancel a number of events to ensure we are able to comply with our current operating conditions.
For our full revised 2011 Calendar of Events please click here
Thank you for your continued support and we are most grateful for all the letters and emails you have sent us. We are sorry it has been necessary to cancel some events this year but we know you wish us every success with our application and that as a result we will be able to run more international, national and club racing events in the future at our world famous circuit.

We will update you as soon as we can on the progress of our application.
The Donington Park Racing Team
