Always a positive step forward when seeing something like this.

A bit annoyed though that all these big sponsors are going to Penske.

That makes it appear as if somethng is brewing towards a possible new title sponsorship for bringing back the Milwaukee Mile from next year onwards. That would be great. Cheers.

Rahal's PennGrade livery is cool.

He had Valvoline in 2013.

MolsonCoors came on board as a sponsor for the Toronto race last year, prompting all sorts of Molson Indy Toronto nostalgia. Good to see MillerCoors as a major sponsor, a step in the right direction I think.

Unsurprisingly, Norris MacDonald predicted this and offered the suggestion they should try hosting it in Montreal in last weeks roundup

Gee what a shocking surprise!

This race was likely vaporware from the start like many street races and if it had got off the ground, like most IRL street races, it would have gone bust quickly with the public taxpayers on the hook. It appears it all came unraveled when the city and state refused to be on the hook financially for any issues. Also getting anything done these days in Massachusetts that doesn't involve leftist causes, lesbians and rainbow flags is just about impossible. A motor race? It's a nice thought but that doesn't fit with the current day paradigm of that state and I know because I am in the state several times a year.

I would think it's too late for a street race that hasn't been planned out already this year. The only possible solution I can see is to run it on an airport somewhere. Specifically in Cleveland.

So, goodbye New England. It ended long before it even materialized. And there aren't so many alternative venues in that area since New Hampshire Speedway has NASCAR meetings in July and September and Lime Rock Park in not really a considerable venue for IndyCar.

Yannick should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Reading other reports and motorsport forums on this subject, the following has transpired when it comes to possible alternate venues for Round #15:

-Mark Miles says it will not be a street circuit (That rules out fantasies of Providence, Houston or Montreal if the latter is considered a street circuit which I don't think it is, but it is in another country, so it might be too much of a hurdle for the sponsors who are already in place.)
-Loudon, New Hampshire is hosting a NASCAR Cup Chase race on September 25th so they are booked already
-There is a historical race car event going on that day at Watkins Glen
-Mark Miles has said he does not want to jeopardize the re-entry of Gateway with a rushed event, given the fact that Gateway also does host a different event at the required date
-There reportedly is an air show on at Cleveland's Burke Lakefront Airport that day
-Fontana is said to still be too hot to draw a crowd on Labor Day. And it would be on the opposite side of the country, so the sponsors from the East might not like it

Of those circuits who do want a race, I can easily think of one which probably has got an opening in their schedule and not a promoter in place yet: Milwaukee

Wouldn't that be nice?

Is Laguna Seca an option, despite the same Timezone issues as Fontana?

The big problem with Laguna Seca is that it’s located pretty much in the same market as Sonoma. If IndyCar wanted to run both, they’d really have to do them several months apart (say April and September). Having them a couple weeks apart would be a very bad idea as they'd be competing against each other for sponsor and press attention and paying fans.

Mark Miles has said IndyCar and the promoters are now looking at a "Plan B" to try to use another city in the north-east, with options including nearby Providence, Rhode Island.

There's Thunderbolt at NJMP.

Even if they've been doing more work in the off-season, I'm guessing Palmer Motorsports Park isn't up to IndyCar standards yet. It does look like a fun road course though.

and there is nothing scheduled for Sep 4th.

Who would write IndyCar a check for the sanctioning fee and/or assumes the financial risk of promoting the race? And if Watkins Glen were such an obvious, can’t possibly fail solution, why isn’t on the schedule already?
