Murf Wins Race One

Should do wonders for socialising the V8SuperTourer concept around the shaky isles when Mr Murphy has been successful in the class!

A big day for crowds tomorrow?

Thanks for the photos. Cars look good, lots of shiny sponsors, track looks good, crowds look good.

You need to get the Woodstock girls in the Grid Girl thread.

I agree, I think Tracy is really good and presents well, and a genuine petrol head as you say. (didn't think much from the other guys from "The Rock" though when they had a crack at it in Hamilton)

A really good show yesterday, all of the ST guys did a fantastic job first time out for the crowd. Cars look and sound great, drivers all behaved themselves, and the cars were very fast. The live TV feed was to the apartments was great to have too, and very good TV camera work with the whole track covered. Did anyone else see the cool RC chopper with the camera strapped on?

Heading back out again today for some more!

Well I was out yesterday (Sat) cause I can't get out today. My thoughts on it all: LOVE the cars! They look great, sound great and go great! Driver lineup is really really good, nice to have such depth in the field, Murph is still a star! Racing was close, fast and exciting, but race 1 was about 10 laps too short on that circuit. LOVED the muscle cars, could watch them all day On the negative side, we needed at least two more support classes, I was totally over drift cars and stunt utes by the end of the day. I Really hope they sort this out for next season but I bet today will be better anyway with two decent length races from the ST's. I will happily go back again but the programme needs improvement. But well done for a good show overall!

Totally agree....

While there are a few that aren't exactly great drivers in there, there's definitely a fair few that I would consider 'top shelf' or close to it (examples could include the ex-factory Ford Driver/two current FPR enduro drivers, multiple Porsche champion etc.).

Final race was pretty action packed.... I guess rubbing's racing

Some great racing in the final race! Love 'em or hate 'em, safety cars work wonders for 'racing'. Also good to see the boys get the elbows out! (everyone loves a good dust up!)

I must say the cars looked a little fragile, I'm sure they're just teething problems, but it looks like the rear bumpers and undertrays need beefing up and it'd be interesting to hear from one of the teams about how much an issue the overheating was. It appeared as if there were HEAPS of cars ducking for fresh air anytime they got anywhere near the back of another car (alhough, I've also got to say that does make the racing look pretty spectacular on TV when you've got 3 cars fanned out across the track.).

There also seemed to be quite a few mechanical issues, considering the cars are supposed to designed to be bulletproof (and therefore cheap to run), I was a little suprised to hear of quite a few issues.

All in a all a solid start (and good to see a healthy crowd out enjoying motorsport)

Pity its not on free to air in Oz.
Checked out the live stream link but it just shows the pit lane and nothing else in all the clips. Am I doing something wrong?

Yeah rear ends seem to need a rethink lol.

The over heating thing could be a bit of an issue!
The other mechanical issues are probably just teething problems. Remember some cars have not done a lot of Ks.

What's the weight of these things? I thought I heard the commentator say they were 1390 and then went on to say they are lighter than Supercars. but they are 1350. Surely I heard wrong?

Just go back from the track , what an amazing event. Full marks to the V8ST crew for putting on a true spectacle

I managed to get full vip access to the pits and hospo areas thanks to a friend in the series, really had a great time walking through the pits , seeing the crews in action.

Some great racing, especially in race three when murphy punted off Scott , which set off the red mist and the subsequent destruction derby!!!

Yeah, nothing a larger radiator can't fix. All the prototype testing was done with only itself out there on the track. Quite a few weeks to go till the next round...

You heard right.... Weird. Also, according to the voices on tv, Mcintyres car running 22kgs of lead plus a passenger seat! How does a kit set car weigh that much different to the rest of the kits?

a v8 supercar has a minumum weight of 1345kgs and 1445kgs including the driver

they are expected to drop by about 100kg for COTF

A fantastic show today, and the gloves were certainly off for race 3! Great to see a big crowd today, and apart from Promax I think everyone enjoyed the racing.

Big congrats to the organisers for putting this together, I stopped going to the NZV8's years ago, but will certainly make an effort to go and watch these guys again.

Absolutely fricken superb!

Really? Yes there was some good racing, but not many races.
Mate of mine went and is glad he got a deal on tickets as there was not enough races for the full weekend ticket price.
