Win Race or Championship

Question: What would you do if you only needed a 10th place finish to win the Winston Cup Championship. Would you go for the win or play-it-safe and cruise to a finish in the top 10.

1.It is the last race of the season.
2.Your car's set-up is on the money and is running good.
3.You are in 3rd place with 10 laps to go.

I would play it safe and collect the big check for winning the championship.

Go for the glory. If I'm that close, I'd try to win the race.

I would play it safe and collect the Championship. After all, it is the goal of all in racing to win the championship, right? Remember the 1993 season when Rusty won 10 races and lost the championship to Earnhardt.

It depends where my nearest rival was, if he was in second place ahead of me I would go for it, and make a good race of it, but if he wasn't I would just sit back.

In 3rd with 10 to go? I would try for the win. Specially if all I needed was 10th to take the Championship, which if you're 3rd is already in the bag if you just maintain your current place. But I would be driving very carefully so as not to lose that standing, and to improve on it. I'd certainly steer clear of people like Robby the Wrecker.

Ok...let me throw in the kicker. The scenario is that it is the last race of the season...that means it is Atlanta Motor Speedway with restrictor plates and it is a race where drafting is important.

If you get out of line to attempt to pass the no. 1 & 2 cars and no one goes with you.....whooooosh....you will drop back about 10 spots and lose the championship.

2 questions :
When did they add the plates at Atlanta ???
Isn't the last race at Homestead ???

I'm not being "picky" but a fantasy can only go so far.

In answer to the topic, I want the Cup !!!
I'll take 3rd and the Winston Cup.

Yeah....kinda blew that one. Had my head between my legs.
Obviously only talladega and Daytona require restrictor plates. As for atlanta being the last race, I was close, think there are only 4 more after Atlanta.

Atlanta was the last race of the year for quite awhile. But don't say "Atlanta" and "Restrictor Plate" in the same sentence. NASCAR might hear you... And we don't want to give them any ideas.
