Well, the only way the Wankel engine ban could be lifted is by lobbying, which is how Toyota and Audi are doing it right now when it comes to BoP.

If Mazda, or anybody else (Buick?) wanted to race a rotary the ACO would just simply grant them a waiver.

Fixed: "...the rule the outlaws other types than piston engines..."

Big difference, as how you said it, implies direct ban made specifically against rotary, which is not true and has never been.

I have understood that the rotary engine is more fuel consumption than a normal engine. The new regulation is governed for the fuel consumption.
What is the sense of making a rotary engine?
Perhaps a hydrogen rotary engine would make sense

Jaguar is planning 700bhp F-Type R-S Coupe to rival Porsche 911

Quote:
The Jaguar F-Type is already giving the Porsche 911 a run for its money, but Auto Express has learned that Jaguar is planning an F-Type Coupe which will blow any 911 out of the water – including the 553bhp Turbo S model.

Our source working within the company revealed: “We have done an R-S version with over 700bhp that will do over 200mph – it’s going to be insane.” They also hinted that the car would look “fantastic” in the striking French Racing Blue paint scheme reserved for all of the brand’s wildest sports car models like the XKR-S.
Our exclusive image – based on the C-X16 concept revealed at the Frankfurt Motor Show last year – shows how a pumped-up F-Type Coupe could look.

To achieve the power figures, the F-Type R-S could use some of the engine technology which was developed for the canned 900bhp C-X75 hybrid supercar. That means a turbocharged and supercharged 1.6-litre petrol engine twinned with multiple electric motors could provide the drive- this could help create a 700bhp version of the forthcoming car.
The standard F-Type Coupe is set to arrive next year, but we’ll have to wait a little longer for this flagship – it won’t go into production until at least 2016.

It's too bad that no where in that article did anyone from Jaguar say, " We'll be building a couple to campaign in GT series around the globe, and several customer cars..."

You should include the diesel wankel too. But alas, they're not ready for today's motorsport.

As for the Jaguar, if only they could sell their F-type to privies.

$459,000 price tag. Anybody know how different this is mechanically from the GTE version? The site says this:

Quote:
virtually all of the technology developed by the Chrysler Group for the factory GTS-Rs for engine, chassis, suspension, electronics and aerodynamics is infused into every Viper GT3-R. All of it

This is in line with what I heard about TMG becoming more business oriented. Not just racing projects also with its own line of Toyota vehicles.

Renault present their F1 engine for 2014:

http://www.worldcarfans.com/11306215...1-engine-video

Will this engine (1.6 V6 low rev.) detuned to, let´s say, 520bhp with two electric motors with 160 bhp each (front and rear axel) with a minimum car weight of 850 kg be suitable for LMP1?????

I'm sure it would work. The question is whether it could be gotten onto the grid at a reasonable price.

[QUOTE=jaguarista;3265056] Jaguar is planning 700bhp F-Type R-S Coupe to rival Porsche 911

Jaguar needs 700hp to get closer to Porsche 911. It's a bit sad. Porsche needs less power than its opponents to be the best. A great difference.
That's why Porsche is Porsche.
