So it would presumably be an ALMS race in 2012 before Le Mans. Could you imagine that thing trying to navigate the hairpin at Long Beach?

According to the designers it makes the hairpin at LB no problem, almost sounded like they felt it was better than the current Indy cars at it. Although I'm not sure how, didn't look like the animated any front wheel movement in the LM lap video and nothing there is nearly so tight and it supposedly has 4" wide front tires.

Well, in that case, so is Toyota! It is a fair point though. Is the proposed Nissan LMP1 a factory effort, semi-factory effort, or a customer focused effort?

Not clear, I guess if it's called an ORECA-Nissan it's a continuation of what they're doing in P2, if it's outright called a Nissan, they must have increased their involvment.

Somewhere in a dark dark garage? They had a fantastic chance to showacase their car in front of the whole world this year but decided against taking it. It's not like Honda are completely bust and couldn't afford to sponsor Highcroft and have an all white Honda-branded P1 at Le Mans.

It would have been great. I was really looking forward to seeing the ARX-01e at Le Mans this year. Hopefully we will see it at Petit.

Anyway, the ARX-01e is a project of the HPD division now. They probably don't have the funding to pay for a significant amount of a Le Mans trip. I'm sure higher ups at Honda know about the project, but they aren't biting for whatever reason.

I thought they switched from Katech to in-house quite some time ago. Last year maybe?

Seems the ORECA-Nissan was widely known, Toyota and Hyundai are the only other manufactuers linked with an LMP in the press.

I only asked if there was a P1 ORECA Nissan, was told there was, and they weren't the only ones coming.

Martin Haven mentioned Nissan too just before the start. Seems like a widely spread rumour in the paddock.

Taking their CFD know-how to Toyota huh? Interesting if that's the case. They already have one of the best windtunnels in the business. What's this about Hyundai though? P1? Also on the speed broadcast they were talking with Patrick Dempsey and he said that Mazda plan on being there next year in P2.
