Hello Stefan,

Alex sent me these pictures when this car was for sale about ten years ago. I decided not to buy it as there was too much work to restore it for me. Do you know what became of this car?

thanks Conrad

Hi All,

I received this photo from a great contact.
It shows my car in Malaysia, this is the period that Leif Norberg owned and race the car. First time I have seen it in these colours.

Cheers.

Hi zakspeed 65 ,
This particular Zakspeed belongs to me. I bought
it from Leif Norberg, it was then having the electrolux colours. I left the car at a friends house, and it was subsequently sold without my consent. FOR YOUR INFO I PAID 50K FOR IT, and I still have the bill of sale. There was only one in Malaysia and this is it, driven by Harvey in Kentucky Fried Chicken colours originally. If the car comes back to Singapore to race, I will obtain a court order to restrain the vehicle from leaving. Sorry, no offence to you, as you are an innocent party.

Hello,

knowing Gary for quite some time now i can assure everyone that he is a gentle and kind person, far from someone who would buy stolen goods.

I find it unwise that the first contact contained a threat. If you talk in a reasonable manner then i am sure a gentlemens solution can be found if your claims contain some truth.

And no, i have not talked to him in person about this and will not.

Hi All,

I am not willing to participate in an online debate. I have been on this forum and others like it for many years documenting the progress and providing other information about my car, with total disclosure. Suddenly this new guy pops up with his bold and unsubstantiated claims.

My only public statement on this matter is that my car is authentic and I have the evidence to prove it. I would ask that people draw their own conclusions privately.

I know the truth, I have shared much information publicly over many years, and I am not going to enter into ANY discussion with this man.

I too know Gary, and all I can say is that whoever let the Escort get into the state it was before Gary bought it should be hung, drawn and quartered! It was almost unrecognisable, with its badly fitted rotary engine and looked like it had been painted with a house brush. Shame on you whoever you are!

I have seen this car through the various stages of its restoration, and Gary has done a fantastic job restoring what was essentially a basket case, and should be commended for rescuing something that was destined for the scrapheap. It took a lot of money, time and skill to bring this pile of junk back to its former glory. Nice work Gary and I am sure you will enjoy it for a long time! It is the ultimate Escort.

Hi, this thread is a great inspiration. just love it.

I found another pic of the Sansui Escort if some are interested, it is on the bottom
of this Swedish site. it`s from 6 august 1978, Ronnie Peterson in a BMW just a month before he crashed so tragic on Monza.

sorry for my bad english (great help from google translate :-)

ok, i understand Swedish, but the Swede do not understand everything i say or write, i`m from Norway you see. i`m trying to collect all i can of info about this Sansui Escort, i been in contackt with some of the previous owners of the car, and i think i have trace a contact to Leif Nilsson (car builder)

It`s awesome to see you guys that have the real thing, i always admire this car`s

but one questions: the Zakspeed Escort with the long rear fenders (looks almost like the Porsche 935 "moby dick") is that one of the "normal" Zakspeed Escort`s? not wery beautiful but litle bit special
i have seen a picture of it with Barth, Heyer and Zakowski sitting in front of the car on some BBS wheels i think

and please add some more pictures of your car`s, or a link. i love too look at the details on these car`s because my english is crap and a picture says more than 1000 words you know.

Hi r2d2,

The car you are talking about from what I know was a Real Zakspeed car but had the long rear wings fitted. I think Zakspeed was doing some testing with them, not sure of the reasons. You are correct, not very good to look at.
I only have 1 or 2 photos of this car, but these are the ones you will have seen.

Update on my car, new engine fitted and tested 3 weeks ago, all going great, need to add or remove a few shims from the metering unit as it's a little lean then testing again in Sept, big race meeting in Oct.

Cheers.

Regarding the escort with the long rear wings: I have some pictures of this car driven by Heyer in an actual race at I think Hockenheim. Looks rather silly and the louvres over the rear window really looked like they were built by some boy racer in a shed.. I don't have the opportunity to digitalise them just yet, but if I do, I will post an example!

They tested with this fenders in Hockenheim to have on the >old< long straight a better aerodynamic and have a higher speed. But they dit not drive with this fenders in any races. Only some testdrives in Hockenheim.
For pictures take a look on Facebook and search for Zakspeed Escort Group.
Also take a look at the new summer issue from Classic Ford Magazine they have make a foto shoot with our ZAK-Escort.

Group 5 Zakspeed Space Frame Escort Sold to Frankie Boodram of Trinidad

Hi,
I would just say that the ex Toine Hezeman's Group5 Ford escort sold to Frankie Boodram of Trinidad seemed to be the best built Zakspeed Escort. This car was imported into T'dad in 1979 and had larger airboxed front and rear fenders than the 1977 Mampe Group 5 car driven by Hans Heyer, if I'm not mistaken Mr.Boodram got two ground effect under carraiges for this car that could be changed over to suit track conditions I saw them with my own eyes at a race meet in Wallerfield Trinidad. Anyway needless to say I have a DVD with this car being driven at Wallerfield 1980 by Mr.Boodram with success in the Yellow Orange Speedway Colours also in this DVD has one of the ex Mike Crabtree Ford Escorts being driven by Mr.Boodram with little success against the legendary Mustapha Engineering Group 3 Holbay Ford escort Mk1 of Simon Gilmore. I will scan and post soon.
