Pity that it's so soon after Petit Le Mans, as it would have been nice to see Magnus Racing bring their Audi R8 LMS to Laguna Seca, after their recent disappointments in the WeatherTech Championship, with two disqualifications in two races! Perhaps next year they'll enter the series?

http://sportscar365.com/imsa/iwsc/ma...t-2016-season/ My guess is to go run something like the Creventic series since I know many others that are doing the same just because it's actually fun. If you are paying for something out of your pocket, you might as well have fun while you are doing it. Plus, many guys want more track time and in PWC, that's not happening and IMSA keeps cutting back on it too. |

What's going on with Dime? It would be interesting to hear why you wouldn't want to touch them with a 40 foot pole.

Once I heard the Montecalvo interview where they ran a car at Mid-Ohio that AMG hadn't inspected yet after its wreck at Long Beach I was wondering what they were thinking. He pulled out and someone else ran I think. And the team manager said they understand Frankie's disappointment but they want to see what else they can learn from the chassis. What else can you learn from that bent chassis?

I can see if there's a problem if the team didn't do that though. |

Thought they had an SLS and were going to the GT with the new car, is it similar enough to gain anything? Honestly don't follow it enough to know in depth, just catch the Racer and S365 stories. |

I don't see how FCA would care one way or another. The Viper is done in 2017 and SRT as a brand was put back into Dodge in 2015. In the end, with a number of them just sitting around, might as well run them in PWC because it'll be historics after that.
As for the AMG, I'd think that somewhere here in the US, there's a dealer that can put the chassis on a jig, cut the parts off and install new ones. If you own a GT3R, all you need to do is take it to any certified Porsche Collision center and they will fix it (actually they are the only ones allowed to fix it because those are the only places Porsche will sell the correct parts to do so). With the number of these AMG's out there on the planet getting wrecked on a regular basis, I seriously doubt they are hard to do structural repair to them. If it was, nobody would run them. |

I have to admit that the latest SprintX race at Laguna attracted more entries than I expected, it certainly has started to grow and almost has an early Blancpain Enduro feel to it (even though it being a copy of the sprint series) and I especially like the multi class aspect of it.
There's thinking about getting rid of the minimum pitstop time however, I'd say that would be only a good move if there's gonna be a Pro class next year, no need to increase costs for the (Pro-)Am entrants, they're fine with having to keep stationary for a minute-and-a-half or whatever. On the season ending Laguna 8H enduro: It's only a week after the Petit, if SRO/PWC is seriously trying to attract some of IMSA's GTD runners, the gap needs to be at least one week more (so 2 weeks in total, preferably 3 weeks) instead of just 1 week as things stand right now. Having the race at Laguna over CotA and at the end of the year are two big improvements however. Too bad the race has to end in the early evening ("6:30 the latest") as a 'night time' finish would have been awesome. See http://sportscar365.com/gt/world-cha...e-in-monterey/ |

If there is a good entry of more than 10 cars each of GT and GTS cars, I suppose the Sprint-X races will be good enough, but otherwise it could be a big disappointment on those headline weekends. Last edited by HighParker; 19 Oct 2016 at 12:41. |

I guess I would be okay with it as long as the number of two-driver races was reasonably low. E.g. like in Aussie Supercars where they have three dual driver events over a 15(?) round season. Might even be a neat way of bringing in some star power for the two-driver races. Why not try to get some Indycar-drivers in the Hondas and Caddies and some European guns in the Porsches or Audis.
