Singapore F1 Plans

More details of Singapore plans from GrandPrix.com

Sounds interesting. I'd be quite happy to see a new street circuit in F1.

I think A1 has done a great job encorporating street circuits into it's season (with Durban and Beijing), and I think F1 sees the potential for more street circuits in it's calendar.

I've tried looking for maps (or more detailed route information) on Google, but all I get is more articles. If anyone has any further information, it would be greatly appreciated.

Most of the articles say that a 'night race' would be "the first of its kind on a street circuit", which isn't true, because the Grand Prix of Houston a night last year on a street circuit for Champcars.

Check this thread. It has a couple of links to maps, though I don't think they're anything close to official.

Today, I found this picture in an article about funny roadsigns. It was taken in Singapore, which seems to have a strong anti-smoking policy.

If they get a race there, Ferrari might have to appear in their original scarlet or in their factory colour yellow, because of their cigarette sponsor being removed from their livery

Tilke!

He's apparenlty doing the layout!

Well, i suppose he has alot less freedom now, which can't be bad

I'd love to see a night time F1 race, very cool.

Thread merge needed methinks

So would I, Rockmunky, but the lighting needed would cost a lot, and the modifications required to the cars to make them safer for night-time racing would cost loads.

The F1 cars already have a tail light, and if the streets are well lit, you don't need headlights (not that a simple nose light would be horribly difficult to install, compared to the effort put into the other major areas of development).

Do Champ Cars have any modifications for the night time race? I'm not sure.

Great like Beijing? Erm...

A street circuit would be fine providing it was to offer something original, like Adelaide did. If it was to be like any of those American street races they shouldn't bother though...
