That was positively nerve wracking, especially when Kerr went off at Sheene on his out lap before his final run. He did very well to clean up the tyres before starting the timed lap.
I's a bit worrying that Germany are now right up there. Shame about USA, but then Italy suddenly appear from nowhere! Code:

just popped in cuz I saw on the web that Kerr quallied 1st--I was surprised to see Junqueira's name (from CART) and was further surprised to see how poorly he qualified.
Any insights into this, in CART he was often very fast, so am curious of why the poor form-is the car/team not up to snuff, how much time has he had in this car etc etc. must be very nice seeing these cars running the full circuit--as always, I envy you lot. enjoy it for me.(the CART race there was pretty boring, so its great that its on the full circuit) cheerio |

Great day out!
It really is a great feeling to watch big Single seaters out the back actually on the limit which you can visibly see with power slides and high speed twitchs of oposite lock!. Shame not all series can reproduce the pure spectacle of theese "proper" race cars. Reminded me today of F2 and the good old days of Int F3000 at a track which I am sure everyone knows but really is the last reminants of the good old days when you could watch up close amidst the fabulous ambiance of the GP loop and literally smell and feel the power of a "real" drivers brutal single seater without all the modern technology rubbish. Alot of aboslute tosh is written on here amongst the F1 forum with regard to the so called top end of the sport and yes it is the top end but if like me you are always hankering after what used to be you could do nothing better than taking a wander out to Hawthorns, Westfield and Dingle Dell to take you back in time and re-kindle the thrill of on the limit driving around proper corners with cars that actually take copious amounts of car control to tame. Long may the series continue and so too Brands without any need for further sanatisation. Safety has it's place in some peoples eyes but to take away any more of the real GP loop would IMO be tantermount to a tragedy. |

1- Entry fee was a fair price for an international race 2- Alot of time had obviously been spent on the raceday program- it was a SENSIBLE price compared to alot of programs I've subsequently regretted buying in the past. its good to see a program with this amount of well written info and not page after page of glossy adverts for expensive watches or similar products with just a few smatterings of content related to the event! 3- Interesting support races 4- And of course the home team interest with everyone cheering on Team GB in a good atmosphere. This racing fan went home happy! If its like this next year I'll definitely be going again. |

It was very interesting watching the different styles. Different lines, different turn in points, throttle usage etc. The support for Kerr was electric and even I who has quite a quiet disposition was getting vocal. He was unlucky at the start of the feature race. You could see how hard he was trying through Paddock Hill Bend. The antics after the end of the race was also a bit of fun. The battle for the lead in the Ginetta race was just superb. It was just a shame that it ended in contact and a red flag. It was my first trip to Brands. I don't know why since I've been to Silverstone, Thruxton, Castle Combe, Rockingham to name but a few countless times but never Brands. I was totally sold, not just the event but the venue itself. Not only will I definitely be back for next year's event, but theres a whole summer ahead to make another trip! Last edited by Spudgun; 29 Apr 2007 at 23:08. |

Really enjoyed the weekend, some great racing and great weather. Had an Austrian friend over too who seemed to enjoy it so spent a good while out on the GP circuit on Saturday, was a little surprised as expected a few more people though. Watched the end of the feature race yesterday with JP and Texeira - was "interesting!!"
Racing was good, and support package wasn't too bad either. Overall good results for GBR over the course of the two races though a shame Robbie couldn't take Hulkenburg in the feature race. Avoided all the traffic both in and out on the two days though was a little surprised to roll up slightly before 10 yesterday morning and hear cars on track but understand they started the FFs slightly early incase of any red flags (which duly came). Only bad point was the food - JP has done a great job with Brands but if you're going to sell something and call it a "hot chicken sandwich," it's better to ensure it is hot! Didn't see any other tenthers bar Piglet and prob some marshals on posts somewhere but who didn't recognise, hope everyone else enjoyed it too |

Fantastic racing and the cars were more impressive than the last time I saw them. Parked on South Bank and stood at Surtees. Was a great day.
Watching the cars accelerating out into the country and under the bridge was pretty awesome. Dragged my dad along, after he’d not been impressed with A1GP from the TV coverage, but he was grinning ear-to-ear, as nigh-on everyone was at the circuit when watching and hearing the cars at full-tilt. On TV and in photos the cars look a little high, squashed and ugly, but in the ‘flesh’ they are very sexy, extremely loud and certainly fast enough. The paintjobs this year are much more aesthetically pleasing. Loved the Brazil car with that red on it – they should keep that design! The SA car looks pretty nice too, and it’s good to see that sponsors are now starting to slap their logos on the cars too. Out of interest, on the slowing-down lap to the feature, did anyone hear the gear-changing musical tune Alvaro Parente was putting-on!? Going down the main-straight he was flicking up and down the gears creating an aural delight! Watching between Dingle Dell and Stirling makes you realise who the real balls-out drivers are; Narain looked mighty into there, if a little untidy! With a good mix of young drivers the series is a great spectacle, and with a huge crowd again I can’t wait to see it all again next year! Well done Robbie, Nico and Enrico. |

What a fantastic weekends racing.
I rather optimistically asked for a quadruple from Kerr & Team GBR (Pole, Sprint, Feature & Fastest Lap) but will settle for 3 out of 4! Am I right in thinking that Kerr's fastest lap is a course record? Newzealand's lack of pace in the qualifying & sprint race certainly added tension that I didn't expect. It looked for a while like NZL might lose 2nd place to GBR until 3 or 4 cars dropped off the track and Halliday put in some great laps. As with last year the atmosphere and home support at Brands was brilliant. Lots of flags and cheering. Not so sure about the White Helmet motorcycle display team though. I thought that the catering and spectator facilities were superb. A big imrovement on last year. Brands puts Silverstone to shame. Prices were a bit higher than you might expect to pay on the high street, but not totally over the top and a good range of food & drink stations. The viewing was excellent. As we expected Kerr knows how to entertain a crowd. Not only with his driving style and dogged determination but also the lap of doughnuts at the end. If my voice was croaky after the sprint race it had completely failed by the end of lap 1 in the feature. It was nice to see all the drivers enjoying themselves and it transmitted to the crowd. Even Jarvis was being as supportive as he knows how. Even though he must have been gutted not to be in the race seat, he still got involved with promotional stuff for the team. All in all Brands was a fitiing curtain call to another excellent season in A1. Hopefully GBR can build on their success next year. |

Though the purists weren’t too sure with the concept a couple of years back, but it’s got to be said that the country vs country format works fantastically well in attracting the interest of the general public. It makes it easy for an average punter to turn up with someone to support, which obviously helps them buy-into the event and grab their interest.
I spoke to a lot of people who were at a race event for the first time and were there with beer, fold-out chairs and Union Jacks already. They all loved the noise, which TV doesn’t do justice too at all and the paint jobs. |

The tub was from SA - might've been an "odd" paintjob but personally loved it!
Would anyone else rather "swap" the Britcar support race for something else, or am I the only one...? I like it and will go to it on it's own but didn't feel it quite worked as a support for A1GP. |

Pleased to hear all you guys/girls had such a great weekend.
Jonathon palmer and his team should be given an enormous amount of credit for the work they've done at Brands. I always thought that Mr Ecclestone chose the wrong circuit, but hey, "you've may your bed, now lie in it". It was great to see so many people, I was marshalling at the pit lane entrance. When Robbie took the lead in the feature race, I was stood with ear defenders on and cars passing 10 feet from me, and still heard the cheer!! Just to remind you guys that among forth coming meetings at brands are; World touring cars, on the Grand Prix circuit and German Touring on the short circuit and (if you really want nostalgia) Histrics Sports Car Club (with old F1 cars and Le Mans cars) on the Grand prix circuit. Just go to www.motorsportvision.co.uk for more info' |

Exciting racing. Kudos to Team GBR and Germany kept me very entertained very late down here. Between A1 and WSBK last night I witnessed some of the best racing in a fair while.

Hi there,
What a weekend! Went for the whole three days and am still buzzing now. I visit Brands regularly and the atmosphere was fantastic. Great to see it packed out and fans cheering on their respective countries. The A1 GP cars are amazing to watch, especially round Stirlings when they chucked the cars into the corner. The GP track at Brands is a proper racing track and suits these types of cars. We were standing at Surtees for the races and to see them power out of the corner was superb. My dad said his ears were hurting this morning. Although we were cheering Robbie on for GB, myself and my family were so impressed with Nico's drive. He never put a wheel wrong despite all the efforts from Robbie. Thanks to A1 GP and Motorsport Vision for the weekend. Great racing throughout the support races and getting in and out of the circuit was trouble free as well. Cannot wait for next year. |

Nico did put a wheel wrong once through Clearways, unfortunately Robbie followed him and gained nothing. Well done to them both for a great race. |

The impressive thing about about Nico is that he's still only 19, yet he drives with all the maturity in the world. His previous wins this season have been pretty straightforward. What yesterday showed is that he can also win under intense pressure.
The very first A1GP meeting at Brands was won in style by Nelsinho Piquet, who today is testing for Renault F1 in Barcelona. You have to say that that Nico looks to be heading in the same direction. Congratulations to him and to Robbie giving us a fantastic and fair race yesterday. |
