Looking at formula1.com's stats, no one completed more than 16 laps on the super softs.

Barcelona aggregate times are interesting. I see Alonso is up to his usual **** suggesting they're currently about 0.7-0.8 off the pace of RB and McLaren. Which times is he looking at? Because both Ferrari's were very quick. Only Mercedes went faster but I don't trust them, we saw what happened last year when they were fastest in testing. I don't see them finding 2-3 secs on RB over xmas.

Perhaps Vettel should now start the "we are currently 1.4secs slower than Ferrari so if I win in Aussie then I'm clearly a better driver" mind games that Alonso does, and make sure to repeat it in just about every single press conference and interview throughout the year.

I dunno, going by that RB looks to be in a bit of trouble when Webber is even slower in 16th. Why sandbag so much? Ferrari look very good.

1. Nico Rosberg, Mercedes, 1:20.130

9. Paul di Resta, Force India, 1:21.664
10. Sergio Perez, McLaren, 1:21.848
11. Romain Grosjean, Lotus, 1:22.188
12. Sebastian Vettel, Red Bull, 1:22.197
13. Pastor Maldonado, Williams, 1:22.305
14. Valtteri Bottas, Williams, 1:22.468

this is hardly scientific, probably doesn't mean much, and i don't have an exact number anyways but over the
past 10-15 years the winner for the season opener has been more often than not the season winner as well.
I think OZ is hugely important precisely because it is different.
In-fact, the Aussie GP has been run 17 times since moving to Melbourne in 1996
and 11 times the winner of the race has gone onto be that years drivers champion.

So yes, it could be argued that it is a good indicator of who might be the WDC,
despite what most drivers, teams, fans and experts say.

Looks good to me, that's 65%.

By comparison of the opening races, the Malaysian GP has given us the winner 7 times in 14 races (50%),
China has done 3 times in 9 (33%),
Bahrain 5 in 8 (63%)
and Spain (at Catalunya) 13 in 22 (59%)
