Really really enjoyed this, despite the red flag. Will endeavour to get there next year (if it's on).
The RLM guys were awesome as usual, and thankfully the stream was solid and ad-free for the whole time. Who handles the broadcast though? Is it all Sport1? I can't help but think they treat it with a little contempt. The N24 has grown hugely over the past few years and now you have works/professional racing teams with world-class drivers competing. Personally, I think the coverage needs to be stepped up a little. 90 minutes of locked-off cameras at the end of the GP hairpin at a key stage of the race because Sport1 are showing bloody Doppelpass isn't good enough IMO. They also missed the majority of Martin catching the two Rowe Mercedes because they were on a break. Locked-off cameras/lack of onboards in the night I can deal with, but it would also be nice to have some kind of sector timing on the T&S to give a clearer picture. I have no idea how much it would cost to implement that and live onboards in the night, but I suppose money is always going to be an issue with the Ring. |

Hi Guys,
I was wondering if anyone has the lap-by-lap results for the race or even recorded the live timing stream. Cheers |

This video is absolutely fabulous ! Leh Keen deserve an award for that, but just remember that Maxime Martin was lapping 20s faster at the same time... but no onboard camera due to excess of vibrations !

Fantastic HD overview of what the N24 was like this year, from the same guys who did the 19500 Frames BMW video:

Red Flag after an accident at the VLN-race today.
The #350 Opel Astra OPC of Bonk Motorsport had an accident at Schwalbenschwanz. Sadly there are informations the former champion of the VLN Wolf Silvester died in this crash, because of a heart attack before the accident. Last edited by Babapapa; 22 Jun 2013 at 13:59. |

The date for the 2014 N24 has been announced: June 21/22. So at worst it's a clash with Le Mans, at best it's a week after...not really the most impressive bit of scheduling I've ever seen.

Can't say it was your typical summer weather in the Eifel last weekend either.

Is a good date if they want to keep the event amateurish because many pro teams and drivers will be busy with Le Mans.

I don't think it'll keep many - if any - teams away... with GT3 being the top class, they are largely tapping into a different pool of teams than LM. Might be a bit tough for drivers, but nothing a true pro can't handle, and there aren't that many amateurs doing LM.

There are definitely a few drivers who would be hampered by the date though (Maxime Martin, Wolf Henzler, many other Porsche works drivers for Manthey)

Can anyone tell me how the championship for VLN works? I'm at a complete loss. How are points allocated?

I think the points are allocated based on a formula similar to this one: (Starters in class - position in class)/starters in class*x |

If I am not mistaken, the SP_ classes don't classify, only the V_ ones. I could be wrong, but that''s the only way I can explain how the champions always come from the slower classes.

But I can't find anything like an overall entrant championship, only junior cup, Astra Cup and production cup and what I guess is the SP9 championship (Speed Trophy). There must be something for the overall championship, no? |

Boo I liked N24 in may, LM24 in June, and Spa24 in July. Perfect spacing imo

Well, it's confirmed that Le Mans will be one week earlier. Two 24 hour sessions in 2 weeks! I feel sorry for both people who will stay up for both races (like me) and the drivers who do both (e.g. Wolf Henzler)! |

Seems like you're right. Now lets find a points table for the overall championship standings...
