Crazy_Pigal should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
It looks like the Lola Caterpillar will give use the first taste of diesel at Le Mans - I hear that the engine is based on the VW production V10 diesel, 4 valves per cylinder, EUI injection (I think), & Ally block & heads, development done by Mountune.
This is a completely different philosophy to the Ricardo/Judd unit, will rev a lot lower than it and have much high compression ratio, & hence be much heavier (to stand the pressures) - All round if anyone coughs up the money then the Ricardo unit will sound much better. I don't think Ricardo are having much luck selling the unit yet, the engine's not a runner.
I think the diesels will be almost as quick (in a straight line) as the petrols as the ACO has been pretty generous with both capacity & boost.
Has anyone heard if the Lola has turned a wheel yet?? will we see it before the test day.

The Lola apparently tested at Snetterton last Friday....

Visit the Taurus Lola Questions thread for more insight and ideas on the diesel....

Question:

Where did you hear that it is VW-based? Any Sources???

We've been wondering that....

and we thought about a VW tie, but felt that with the VW ties to Audi (VAG), that a deal with Taurus might be a far stretch....

Please share your info on this thread or on the Taurus Lola Questions thread....
