You should not start such dramatic threads until you have it fully confirmed!

I am desperately hoping this is untrue.

I don't think this is correct. They have just shown him being airlifted to hospital by helicopter. They say he was stabilised at the circuit before being taken to hospital.

Ch10 just reported that they stabilised him a the track medical centre before tranfserring him to hospital. No indication of the extent of the injuries.

I don't think they are allowed to confirm it immeadiatly on the TV. There was 2 people involved may have been the other driver. Wo knows. All i got was a text saying that at the track they just announced that he had died.

Peddler has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
I also just heard form a mate who is at the track and he also beleives that he has died at the scene. He has also said that it doesnt look like that there will be any further classes out this afternoon.

If they are not allowed to announce it on TV why are they allowed to announce it at the track.

v8s are now qualifying, so police havent as yet claimed the track, which is a positive sign for Porter. Mind you, only if he is declared at the track. im not sure if the police have to survey the track if the driver is declared aware from the circuit.

Lets just hope for the best, especially this weekend.,

Things like that don't need to be announced at the track to hear word of it... marshalls' body-language, snippets on the two-way... many ways to gather information, be it good or bad...

Yeah, that's true. In 1986 when Mike Burgmann died my mum was a communications officer at the Elbow and she got told the news before they announced it on TV.

Clark was taken to Bathurst hospital, where he is reported to be in a serious but stable condition.
Quote:
Gemma Jones, a reported for The Daily Telegraph who witnessed the accident on the race's big screens, said: "A third car had nowhere to go, lost control and slid sideways into one of the stricken cars.

"The first marshal to one of the cars appeared to check the driver's pulse.

"He was unable to open the doors and motioned to other marshals nearby that he needed the 'jaws of life' to get the driver out.

"That driver (Clark) was then taken by ambulance to the race control medical centre and then to hospital in a Careflight helicopter."

I'm not saying he's dead, just giving everyone a link to their story.

At the time of the crash, the channel 10 pit guys went as spoke to the M Sport crew, who did say that they managed to get a few words from Mark over the radio. Hopefully thats a good sign.

They will not say anything to the crowd at the track or in the media until relatives can be notified and considering the amount of alcohol consumed by people up there I wouldn't listen to info from spectators anyway

Attended a nasty crash at an event I was at recently and all sort of chinese whispers were doing the rounds about the driver condition (was choppered out) but he is expected to fully recover from his injuries.

I suggest the Mods clean up the thread title to something like "Porter in serious crash" or similar.
