"100th Anniversary Oval Doughnut"

For the 100th Anniversary of the Milwaukee Mile, Krispy Kreme (maker of American donuts) will release a special anniversary oval donut, which will be larger and rounder than normal donuts .

Quote:
MILWAUKEE, Wis. (May 23, 2003) - The Milwaukee Mile, known as "America's Legendary Oval," and Krispy Kreme have come up with a sweet treat that racing fans can really sink their teeth into.

On Tuesday, May 27 and Wednesday, May 28, 2003, the Krispy Kreme store in West Allis will offer the all-new "100th Anniversary Oval Doughnut" to honor 100 years of continuous racing at The Milwaukee Mile.

"America's Legendary Oval" has been hosting races since 1903. Jennifer Bergman, director of corporate partnerships for The Milwaukee Mile, said, "Krispy Kreme provides the highest quality product, and The Milwaukee Mile provides our fans with a high quality racing experience. It's a perfect match."

Chuck Knoblauch, the regional director of Glazed Investments, which owns Krispy Kreme franchise rights in Wisconsin, Colorado and Minnesota, said, "Krispy Kreme has been in business since 1937, and now it's growing in leaps and bounds. It makes sense to try something new - like the "100th Anniversary Oval Doughnut."

Knoblauch says "expert oval makers" at the West Allis Krispy Kreme store will hand-shape each oval pastry, just before each goes into the fryer. The oval doughnuts will bring new meaning to the term "baker's dozen." Because the oval doughnuts are a bit larger than the round ones, nine doughnuts fit into the box that usually holds a dozen.

There's extra incentive to celebrate The Milwaukee Mile's 100 years with Krispy Kreme at 2900 S. 108th St. in West Allis. Everyone who buys a "100th Anniversary Oval Doughnut" nine-pack will get a coupon for a 15% discount off the face value of a reserve seat to any 2003 race event at The Milwaukee Mile as well as a coupon for one dozen glazed doughnuts free with the purchase of another dozen. Redemption of the 15% discount off the face value of a reserve seat to any 2003 race event at The Milwaukee Mile requires a receipt from a nine-pack of Krispy Kreme Milwaukee Mile Oval doughnuts. The offer is available in person ONLY, leading up to one day prior to each race event at The Milwaukee Mile ticket office at 7722 West Greenfield Avenue, West Allis, WI 53213. There is a four-seat limit, per event, per Krispy Kreme Milwaukee Mile Oval doughnuts receipt. The first oval doughnut from Krispy Kreme comes as The Milwaukee Mile gets ready to host a "first" of its own.

On Saturday, May 31, 2003, the venerable racetrack will host the first-ever Champ Car race contested at night. Temporary light towers will pump out 1.3 million watts of light for The Milwaukee Mile Centennial 250 presented by Miller Lite and Argent Mortgage with the Toyota Atlantic Championship and Barber Dodge Pro Series. Fans will get three nights of action with the Champ Car practice on Thursday, May 29, qualifying on Friday, May 30, and then Saturday night's race.

Racing and donuts! I love it! Now all we need is a donut making competition to replace the pitstop competition for the drivers!

PS Tim Hortons, are you listening !
