No 4 should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
2007 Indy Pro Series

Jamie Morrow, UK Formula Renault racer, will join fellow Brit Alex Lloyd at the Homestead - Miami Speedway for the first official oval and road course test of the 2007 Indy Pro season.

Morrow will run with Indy Car team Playa Del Racing, which is managed by David Morgan, who played a key roll in Buddy Lazier's '96 Indy Car winning effort.

Lloyd and Mutoh held sway on road circuit at Homestead on Tuesday in first official tests. Mutoh just fastest on 1.16.1559 and Lloyd on 1.16.1881. Lloyd missing his last run due to course yellows. Oval testing today and currently Bobby Wilson fastest on 28.7611and Lloyd on 28.7828. very close indeed

Very impressed at how Alex has taken to the IPS. I can't imagine he could have had much oval experience before he went over to the US but he seemed to pick it up very quickly last year.

That was how it finished yesterday so it has been a good week for Alex and the Sam Schmidt team. Great opportunity now for Alex, who has signed for a full season with a top team. First time since his Renault year in 2003.

What happened to Morrow, didn't see him on the timesheets for the oval or road test?

Appears not to be on the drivers list for the year either at the moment.

Series added street/road circuit to its schedule, increased price money that said a lot of driver consider IPS Challenge. You can win third of budget you spent.

I think the series has been gaining momentum for a couple of years. Good mix of road and Oval, excellent prize money, teams can tie in with Indy teams. Just appears to be a good, well thought out championship.

That's why they can add more European/South American drivers to its line up. Series is much cheaper than GP2 Series, IRL is getting healthier every year now, it might've been good choice for drivers who cannot afford GP2 Series, F3 Euroseries...

Sadly, contractual problems prevented Jamie getting in the Playa Del Ray car. All very frustrating - a 9 hour flight for nothing! We're still working at getting Jamie out.

MET A4 - Re budget, the teams quote circa $600,000. However, $350/400 can secure a drive, with a less fancied team. Licking back a % of prize money can also be offset against a budget.

This is excelent value for money compared with European Championships. Even British F3 will cost you more than that. If you look on the Indy Pro website it has driver earnings for last year.

If it says so, its true. One thing about America is that they are proud to post how much competitors earn in sports. Unlike F1 where the information is more secure than national secrets.

Don't hold me to this, but when Jamie and I were talking to one of the teams, they said if a driver finished 10th in all 16 races they would net $200,000!

Of course in most cases i would imagine all the money in question goes to the team and not the driver. It's a good chunk of money though towards your budget.

That's a very decent amount that you could be earning towards your budget in the Pro Series then. Does anyone know the prize money you get for winning a British f3 race? The only thing I remember about F3 prize money is Gary Paffett getting a cheque for £125,000 for winning the scholarship championship in '00 (if i remember correctly).
