I can't believe how much the price of die-cast models has gone up over the past few years! Obviously the detail and quality of these models now is brilliant and they have come a long way since Onyx started with the F1 and Le Mans cars.

But we are paying the same price now for a 1:43 scale car, as we were paying for a 1:24 scale car a few years ago?

In comparison the price of 1:43 scale kits has not gone up so much, but the quality has. I suppose the difference between the two is the man hours for someone to build a car at a factory has gone up too.

1/43rd is now a rip off. I've swithed to 1/18th scale.

Just bought the Minichamps Porsche 956 Kenwood for £47.99. Next up is the BMW M3 GTR and more expensive Sauber Mercedes C9 and Porsche 935.

They already do this in the 1:43 scale but as another member said £29.99 for these are over the top. I have been after a 1:18 scale CLR from Le Mans 1999 ( Hopefully they wont flip ) for some time now but perhaps they just havent been made due to the legal team at Mercedes.
If anyone knows any different then please say.

Don't think it will ever be done in 1/18th scale (certainly not in diecast - too expensive for a limited run). The 1/43rd versions could be considered a bargain at £29.99, these are low production virtually hand-built models. Ten years ago, kits of these cars retailed for more than that.

I had three, but have now switched back to 1/43rd!

I can afford the occasional 1/43rd model at £25-£35, but the Exotos are now retailing for £200+.

Plus I've focused my collection to just Group C/IMSA GTP and LMP1/2 Coupes.

The CLK-GTR and CLK-LM were both done in 1:18 by Maisto. There's even some 1:12 versions out there.
