CLK GTR history?

Does anyone have a good website regarding the history of the MB CLK GTR?

Specifically, I recently bought a Maisto 1/18 D2 #1 MB CLK GTR. It was piloted by Bernd Schneider and Mark Webber. The model doesn't come any description documenting what year the car raced.

I believe it could be either a '97 or '98. I believe it is '98 since that's the only way MB could wear the #1 sign??

Can anyone offer any assistance? Thanks ahead.

Re: CLK GTR history?

I just stumbled onto a webiste and was able to identify the model as the '97 spec CLKs. It seems the '98s got add'l vents along the front sides of the car.

But any links to websites with good info and pics of the CLK, Toyota GT One, Nissan R390, Porsche GT1 would be appreciated!

Cheap attempt at self-promotion there Aysedasi!

But I had forgotten how beautiful your sportscar photography was, high quality photos, good composition and choice of location - no advertising hordings or fence posts interrupting the drama!

For me, those pictures are a perfect advertisement and example for Le mans (with the addition of a rain and night shot of course.)

ah, that Porsche. I wrote my name in the dirt on that car at Goodwood. I don't know why, but everyone does it. Byt the end of the weekend they just become a large display of signatures.

also done: ORECA Viper (2000), Pescarolo C52 (2001) Audi R8 in 2000, 2001, and 2002. And the Bentley in 2001. Oh, and the BMW LMR.

I don't know, they actually bother to keep the car as it finished the race, and people scrawl graffiti on it. That's almost sacrilege.

Well, they do try and keep them dirty. Except Audi in 2001. They kept the second place car dirty instead.

But seriously, they don't keep them dirty for ever, that Porsche for instance has turned up every year since 1998. 1998 was wet, very wet later on, and the car was totally pristine by the end of the day lol. But nearly every year one of those cars come back, and they're definitely clean then. The Audi winners for instance have been raced again since...

Sounds like it's a model of the car used in the early part of '98. Mid-season, they switched to the CLK-LM, which was heavily revised (side-mounted coolers, lower bodywork, longer front and rear overhangs, new V8 motor, etc).
