I'm sure I have read somewhere that Wendlinger said he hit a patch of water under braking which caused the car to spear into the barrier.

I don't think they caught the crash on video, just the after effects.

I have not had a chance to watch the TV broadcast yet, but I'm guessing that others here have so I'm assuming it was not part of that or I expect someone would have commented. Haven't seen any personal vids on the net yet of it either - maybe there are some, maybe not.

There is also this one:

Which shows the damage to one side, sadly I don't think there are any photos of the right side. (which is the side that hit the barriers first as far as I am aware)

Losing a nice 500mm would suck quite a fair bit, but if that's all that got damaged, rather than any of the individuals standing at that location, then I'd say that was a fair price to pay.

Thanks for posting that. That SRT vette was carrying plenty of speed, glad the marshals had time to get behind the barriers.

Might be tired mechanics making a mistake?

Sort of. I think it was improper bleeding of the system.

It was a bad end to a bad couple of weeks...it couldn't get much worse unless the truck carrying it home exploded!

It probably didn't do that, but it likely had brake failure and ran into a ditch!

In the FFSA race at Spa the SRT C6-R ran also into troubles and crashed the front off ...
Just look at the video's of race 1 and 2 on the FFSA site

Late to the party as usual! I still can't believe how dominant BMS were in GT2! They were flawless. If there is such a thing as a perfect race, this must have been what it looks like.

What exactly did Pirelli concoct for them in terms of tyre compounds? There were other GT2 cars running the Italian rubber with very strong driver lineups but they didn't have the same pace it appears to me. What was that all about?

When I was in Spa in May for the 1000km race, I remember seeing a Scuderia Ecosse truck parked away somewhere on the approach to the bus stop I think. I remember thinking how odd it looked to be parked pretty much by itself, you wouldn't spot it unless you knew there was something there. I concluded they were probably going to run some tyre tests the week after the 1000km race.
