Is there anyone that doesn't know what Gran Turismo is at this point? Especially after all the VGTs we've seen.

Those manufacturer's make them. That's their "vision" of a future GT. Their quite the hit, considering the Mercedes Vision GT is in the new Justice League movie

Too bad cars like the hydrogen Hyundai or this Peugeot can't become reality.

In this week's AUTOhebdo, Peugeot tell they enter WRX and E-WRX for their growth plans outside Europe and their orientation towards electric cars in the 2020's. The author of the article points out that they don't mention the 5 Billion € fine and the cost of the acquisition of Opel (around 1.7 Billion €).

Thing is, in WRX they only have to offer funding, they don't build the car, Hansen does, they don't run it, he does, they don't build the engines, Oreca do.

I imagine they will obviously be involved in the design and build in some ways, but I doubt that Hansen picks up a Peugeot blueprint and simply toddles off and builds it, they will collaborate. And use Peugeots Sport knowledge and experience.

So all they are doing is providing cash for the program, and that will largely also be bolstered by Loeb and his Red Bull backing.

Ever since the first "Vision GT" I've disliked those concepts... if you can call them concepts at all. People and particularly "gamers" drool over those without realizing it is quite a diferent thing to make a race car that exists only virtually and the performance numbers are basically fiction.

That's different. These Vision GT cars and other concepts (the Red Bull/Adrian Newey one) they've asked are purely made for the game without any intention to ever build them in real life.

Adding to what PascaLM said, Autohebdo reporting Peugeot is abandoning Dakar after next year.

DSC article on “Why Peugot Sport isn’t coming to the WEC.”

Sample quote:
Quote:
And finally, in Auto Hebdo’s most recent feature about Peugeot Sport’s decision, it explained that the lack of full technical regulations for 2020 was key in its choice. Without a full rule set, Peugeot felt it could not truly understand whether or not a cut in budget for the programme was possible.

The manufacturer asked for a standardised plug-in batteries for the manufacturers in LMP1 and substructures for the cars, both requests which the ACO has not made a firm decision on.

This, plus the lack of confidence in the competition in the WEC for 2020, meant rallycross, and specifically the allure of e-WRX, was enough to prevent Peugeot from green-lighting a return to endurance racing.

Aside from all of the above though the DSC Editor has established that there were very active plans for an announcement of an LMP1 programme by Peugeot which was due to take place at the 2017 Le Mans 24 Hours – that announcement though was pulled for unspecified reasons, industry source suggesting that PSA’s looming emissions scandal may have played a part.

Peugeot 908 Suspension

I've been amazed at the suspension of the 908. Saw it for several years at the Petit and the way that it could go over a curb at speed and keeping the car level and balanced was impressive.

Here are a couple of photos I shot in 2011. In the first, everything is 'normal'. In the 2nd photo, the 908 came flying down the short straight between 5 and 6 and ran up on a back-marker and had to stomp on the brakes!

What I saw was the front end squat down with the front tires pointing outwards like a snowskier trying to scrub speed. What I thought I saw was the car bending in the middle and the rear tires taking on an interesting angle.

It may be an optical illusion but I think I witnessed technological magic.

There were two 908s at Brands Hatch this past weekend in the 'Endurance Legends' race. Very impressive around the GP Loop - quicker than the historic Formula 1 cars. Really good to see the cars out and being driven hard (one did have an off on Saturday but was back out on Sunday).

Motor Sport's peddler-in-chief Dickie Meaden drove it earlier this month so I'm guessing we'll see a story in next month's issue.
