I would love to Down F0rce but I prefer to just pick the top ten. Infact I shall give it a go for fontana but I'm no expert just a big IRL fan.

Got this from the IRL web-site:

[ By providing Michael Keohane an opportunity to test the No. 24 Team Purex Dreyer & Reinbold Racing Dallara/Chevrolet/Firestone at Texas Motor Speedway, team co-owner Dennis Reinbold is looking ahead – to adding a companion entry in the IRL IndyCar® Series.

Reinbold and co-owner Robbie Buhl see opportunities to enhance the efforts of Felipe Giaffone, who replaced the retired Buhl behind the wheel in April. ]

A second car is very good news, isn't it? It would be great to see them competitive again!

That would be great. One car teams do suffer a lot in terms of set up.

How About This One:

In the Champ Car Forum, a knowledgeable member named Muzza has posted that he has had a conversation with a Brazilian journalist who told him that Bruno Junquiera is the probable "3rd man out" at Newman-Haas in Champ Car, that N-H will probably run a 2-man team with Bourdais and da Matta, and Bruno is looking at a possible run in the IRL...

The source that the journalist cited:

Bruno himself....

But the talk is that Haas won't be the team owner...

the specualtion could be that he will rejoin Ganassi as the thrid car...

Question:

Did Bruno and Ganassi part ways on good terms or not-so-good terms???

anyone remember???

I don't think it was on bad terms, Bruno just wanted to stay in ChampCars wheras Ganassi didn't...

Some interesting new news on a possible move to IndyCars for Carpentier:

09-24 According to the Indianapolis Star Carpentier will announce his decision AFTER the Champ Car season has been completed.

09-23 The Las Vegas Sun is quoting Patreeeek Carpentier as saying, "Right now, the way it stands, I've got four teams that I've talked with and that are offering me something and I have none in (Champ Car). They're all in the IRL."

Also, how can this interesting silly season tid-bit of information go unreported:

Wind Tunnel has been stating this week that Toyota Atlantic driver Danica Patrick will be testing with Team Rahal/Letterman during today's second day of road course testing at Homestead Motor Speedway.

The team has been interested in moving her up to bigger cars, but at this time does not have the sponsorship to do so

Actually, Team Owner mentioned that Danica would be testing at Homestead in the test-thread

The latest from Robin Miller.

CARPENTIER TO CHEEVER

Patrick Carpentier, who started on the pole and finished third here Saturday night, will be driving for Team Cheever next year in the IRL. The 33-year-old Canadian wouldn't confirm which team but it's going to be for the Red Bull-sponsored stable and it's a two-year contract. "It's a good deal financially and a good team," he said. "I've enjoyed my time in Champ Car but I've got to do what's best for my future and nobody over here (Champ Car) seems to want me."

It's expected he'll replace Alex Barron and team with Ed Carpenter.

Well....that's a bit of a shock. If anyone needed replacing you'd have thought it would be Ed...

So Cheever's two drivers will be Carpentier and Carpenter... And they say there's no "I" in team.

Hope the Chevrolet engines makes up some ground on Honda before next season.

Well, if true, I do hope Patrick can bring some excitement back to this team.

They seemed fairly competitive early on, but have fallen off the radar as of late. The whole team, including Eddie, seem to have gone flat, with no fire, or real desire. Panther, the other Chevy team, have blown Cheevers boys away. Barron, while not Mr.Excitement, seems to be a competant driver, that's very capable of winning. I hope he can find a seat, but where?

Carpenter is TG's godson, so no surprise that he would keep his seat.

What a joke!

Barron needs to try, if nothing else, and go after that Panther seat. If Schekter's been half good this year (best of the Chevy's), then what could Barron have done?

Patrick was 2 seconds quicker a lap than Sam Hornish at Homestead on the road course. Rumor from the Rahal team is that Vitor might be looking for a ride and the funding that was to be used for his car going to Patrick. Rumor also has it that Vitor has been approached by 2 different owners about next year. Mechachrome will be making the decision on whether to run 3 cars or not next year at Cheevers as they are a big partner with Eddies team now. Mechachrome has made inquiries into producing engines and chassis for the Indy Car Series and the Menards IPS. Strong rumors in the paddock that Penske and Ganassi are looking at 3 car teams next year for the testing and feedback as they have learned from AGR that it does make a difference. Hertas job at AGR is not secure. Tom Kelley has an offer on his table to continue in the IRL with a 2 car team but also has an offer to take Scott Sharp and Delphi to the #2 car at Panther as Menard is spending big money in the Nascar Series on his son. Menard is quirly at best so he might retain some interest in the IRL. Look for the Menards IPS series to run a race on USGP weekend but not on Friday as Speeds Robin Miller suggested. Rumor has it that it will be the support race just before the USGP on Sunday which will be a big boost to that series with maybe a special $ incentive to win both the Freedom 100 and the yet untitled race on USGP weekend.

I think that's about all I know right now with the exception of Mini AL Unser broke his wrist ( or something ) over the weekend and will have to be checked out before he is allowed to run the IPS race this weekend at Fontana. Supposedly Rocky Moran Jr., PJ Abbott and Jon Herb will run the IPS this weekend and Scott Mayer will move to the #3 car replacing Jesse Mason as Masons contract ( his money ) has run out at Brian Stewart Racing.
More later if I hear it or remember it.

Was that Patrick a certain Patrick Carpentier doing a secret IndyCar test (or perhaps it's been mentioned somewhere else and I somehow managed to miss it completely)??

My brain isn't ready for riddles like that...

On a side-note, interesting info the lot of it - I just reacted a bit extra on that first line there

Doh!

I like the the options for Kelley Racing and Scott Sharp. A two car team is the only way to go today, and it seems either way they go, they'll have one.

Penske and Ganassi going to 3 cars would be great!

I havn't heard of this Mechachrome, but how cool would it be to have a third chassis manufacturer, and a fourth engine maker involved in the series!? This could tie into a rumor I've heard, that Carpentier would be going to Red Bull Cheever, but as a third car, and it would be a new team working in alliance with Cheever.

Good stuff Team Owner, there's alot to digest here!
