Minardi fan should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Hurrah! A tip-top day at Silverstone has just been had by moi and the rabble. Present were Wurz and new boy Darren Turner (who?) in the McLaren, Alesi and Mazza in the Prost, Sato in the BAR, Montoya in the Williams, Heinz in the Jordan, and De La Rosa and Burti in the Jaguars. Benetton are present tomorrow too, with Fisichella driving, along with Villeneuve and Panis in the McLarens.

Sato managed to spin his car at Luffield, the traction control obviously not having the desired effect. This was proved when he spectacularly threw his BAR off the track again, this time just beyond Bridge corner.

Alesi trundled round at one point with a missing front wing, with the Prost of Mazzacane demonstrating oversteer, understeer, and won't-steer...

The Jaguars and McLarens in particular seemed to be having problems with traction control, the engines sounding MORE than rough. The Jordan however was as smooth as ever.

In the evening we managed to get SEVEN different drivers autographs - Wurz, Montoya, a highly-flattered Takuma Sato, Pedro, a very friendly Heinz, Villeneuve on his way in, and ALESI!!!

A most excellent day - but at 8.30pm it was just toooo cold to justify waiting for Mazza any longer!

Unless I'm very much mistaken, he's a Mercedes DTM driver.
Actually, I probably am very much mistaken

Actually, Murray, this time you actually aren't mistaken. Darren Turner indeed drives a Merc in the DTM.

Looking forward to the pre-Le Mans test now if that many teams will be there...

Never mind Woody, try to remember to post it next time...

Today's line-up at a thoroughly cold and snow-laden (well nearly) Silverstone included...
Hakkinen and Coulthard in the Macs,
Burti and Irvine in the Jags,
Cochet and Alesi in the Prosts,
Villeneuve and Panis in the BARs,
Montoya and Ralf in the Williams',
Frentzen in the Jordan,
and...
Fisichella in the Benetton.

We spent most of the morning in the BRDC club house as to be frank it was bloody freezing. The weather was a general and unpredictable mix of snow, sun, wind, snow, hail, rain, sun, snow - we even had a mini-blizzard at about 7pm!

The Jordan of Frentzen was again looking smooth, the Macs and Jaguars once more seemingly struggling with traction control. The Benetton was just S.L.O.W. Jean Alesi provided some welcome fun by continuing round the track as the hail and snow fell, nearly spinning but not quite. Marvellous.

Woody turned up in the afternoon, Jaffa Cakes included, and proceeded to go Coulthard and Fisichella crazy... (Women...)

The autograph collection was added to thanks to Ralf Schumacher - who we chased down the road towards the A43. To be honest we felt like we were going to collapse after that little escapade. Then Panis drove out - but Jon's mother was one step ahead of him with her car ready. I quickly got in back and we chased Olivier down the road. That makes 2. Irvine stopped but only momentarily, as did Alesi but he was very polite again. Burti, despite hearing that he had been dropped by Jaguar for 2002, stopped and was very very friendly.

At 8.40pm we finally gave up on Fisichella and Coulthard.

Thankyou to whoever provided entertainment by phoning the phone boxes by the main gate - we eventually scared them off when our replies got a little too saucy for their liking .

And finally, quote of the day.

Me: Oooh, look at Lorna's blow-up.

Ooh err...

superb days testing at silverstone had by myself a bit cold but once i buried myself in a massive green sheet i was fine!!

Lots of cars - lots of noise - just how many laps did those BAR's lap up and that traction control sounds like fun on the williams' especially when montoya is belting it out of luffield - mclarens looked quite slow.

I had a race into the circuit with eddie irvine this morning which was fun - lasted about thirty seconds as the only camparison i had with him was the colour of our cars he had his aston martin vantage rocket launcher and i had my little sporty focus (which felt a lot less sporty) after eddie put his boot down - what a nutter and what a noise!!

Mika gave a great spin so did frentzen i think anyone else know why we had so many red flags - alesi went out and saw fissi on back of truck minardi guy update us mate!!

My god what the hell do I look like? And Vicky just looks petrified...

Well, day three saw Ralf blowing an engine, Montoya in a bad mood, Frentzen spinning, Mika spinning, Irvine stopping, Alesi stopping and numerous other people causing red lights. In fact, I don't remember there ever being so many in one day. *cue hilarious red light joke...*

The weather today was an eclectic mix of sun, snow, sun, snow, rain - I have some hilarious photos which I will put up once they are developed of the BLIZZARD which struck at about 6pm as we waited for drivers - just ask Carrie, whose car I took refuge in. Ta chuck!

Autographs came courtesy of Tony Jardine this morning, and Olivier Panis and Jody Scheckter this evening.

Of course the big news of the day was Burti signing for Prost - at about 3pm someone noticed a different driver going round in the Prost. Mazzacane we thought - until I saw the helmet and said it was Burti. The conclusion we came to was correct - he'd signed with the team. Indeed, our Silverstone mole Carrie had all the inside info, and I will leave her to inform you more.

GOOD LUCK LUCIANO - AND SOD JAGUAR!!! HURRAH!!!

After much deliberation, I have remembered the quote of the week - somewhat disturbingly made by me, in Carrie's lovely 'ickle car:

"Ooh look, my trousers are steaming!"

Read from that, ladies and gentlemen, what you will.
