Just filling in an entry form for the single seater races where will be making my open wheeled debut......

Thread really should be renamed if possible, Mr Moderators / Sirs, as MRL are only one organiser 'buying in'. The event is correctly the Algarve Historic Festival and organised by Francisco Santos Eventos. Those on his mailing list will have had provisional programme and timetable, but not sure if they are available on line as well. Free practice is on thursday 20th, qualifying on friday 21st, so 4 days in all.

Anyone else on here taking the opportunity for some late October racing in the sun (well, was glorious weather last two years!) and all the other attractions of the Algarve? Even an organised inter-team kart challenge this year as well. (Delta and Will N, take note!) Plus of course the free hotel nights included in entry fee......

If all goes to plan will be taking my new truck, so could well have space for another car. Anyone interested, send pm and I will give you the lowdown.

If Mike's offer of transport to Portimao gets oversubscribed, then I too can offer transport there and back for a single seater plus all equipment if anyone is interested. PM me for details. Nick Lees.

I'm going. Always a nice end to the season although I have China with the Le Mans Series a couple of weeks after Portimao this season.

Roger, what are you taking to Algarve? I've picked to do the 'multi-series' single seater races thinking they are two you may not be entering....

The event for me is like an end of summer holiday with historic racing added in for good measure. Yes, it is expensive in time and money to drag one car down from UK but with cheapish flights and preparers / transport specialists taking several cars in one go it brings the cost down. I understand from latest newsletter that as well as free hotel nights the organisers are hoping to lay on shuttle bus(es) between hotels and circuit, which would be useful when drivers and their families want to get to circuit at different times.

Anyone want more info suggest they contact Francisco Santos. The event website is here and email is franciscosantos@fseventos.pt.

and hoping to be needing these

Good Morning Mike,

Mrs F and I are likely to be there. She keeps telling me we are over due a holiday even though I took her camping for the weekend to Anglesey.

Perhaps the stunt plane will put in an appearance as well.

The weather is looking good for this weekend at Mallory.

Don't know where I was when the stunt plane did that last year, but darn sure I will try not to miss it this time if happens again!

See you there (and Mallory of course!)

Agreed, there are many organisers bringing grids to this event so the thread should be renamed.

I am making my pre-war debut thanks to JR in a Talbot. Highlight of my season! More excited than I was about doing Le Mans!

Excellent! Hope I am around to cheer you on. Be prepared to get involved in a kart challenge as well- schedule permitting, of course!

I'll be describing the action again over all four days, from the new commentary suite, high above the main paddock complex...and not where it used to be...direct over the startline, with only 100 metres of vision!!

hi chaps, just got back from portimao this weekend and loved the place, I'd love to race there myself.

saw the plane that was mentioned earlier, amazing. I've never seen a plane land on the start/finish straight then start doing donuts. it then followed ridiculously close to the ford transit race for a couple of laps. I'm sure it wouldn't be allowed in England with H&S.
I've been back for less than 24hrs and working out when to go again.

so, is this event worth going to, as a spectator?

I'm not really interested in single seaters, so will there be enough sports car races to keep me entertained?

Hi Rob, this will be my third year running as a competitor, but even if I wasn't racing I would still be going!

It's helped that for last two visits weather has been fantastic, and appreciate that we may not get that every time, but still a great place to be in late October. As for the racing this year, looks like a few more added to programme by moving all qualifying to Friday.

For me even if the racing itself wasn't that exciting to watch the area has so much more to offer. If you didn't try the kart track last w/end that is a must........

Hope to see you there!
