Arden International F3000 drivers will test with Lucky Strike BAR Honda

Arden International drivers Björn Wirdheim and Townsend Bell to test for Lucky Strike B·A·R Honda

source: barf1.com

The Lucky Strike B.A.R Honda team have today further demonstrated their commitment to evaluating and nurturing new F1 talent, with the announcement that opportunities are to be made available to test up-and-coming drivers during the autumn testing season.

B.A.R's close relationship with Arden International means that the first two drivers to benefit from this opportunity will be current Formula 3000 teammates, Townsend Bell and Björn Wirdheim.

Bell, a 28-year-old American and 2001 CART Indy Lights Champion, and 23-year-old Swede, Wirdheim, the newly crowned 2003 F3000 Champion, will both drive the B.A.R Honda 005 F1 car during tests in September.

That'll be good, I'm sure Bjormn will be competitive, he's been extrememly impressive in F3000 and beforehand. Townsend can do better than some of the naysayers in CART last season expected. Still not sure he's ready for F1 though.

The sad thing is, this test is unlikely to lead to a race seat, as Jensona dn Sato look so likely for next eyar. A testing contract is the best thing on the table for the landslide F3000 champion, which is qutie sad.

Bells test was yesterday, this is what he had to say:

"Today was amazing. It’s the fastest car I’ve ever driven. I was too busy smiling to be too analytical on the first run, but it was great gradually working up to higher speeds. I’m really looking forward to the next couple of days."

Isn't it Arden that is based within the grounds of Prodrive?

Isn't it Prodrives boss David Richards that is also boss of BAR

Who 'really' controls Arden is something I've wondered for a couple of years now...
