According to this week's AUTOhebdo, Lapierre will join Sarrazin and Hirakawa (or Kunimoto) for Spa and Le Mans.
Romain Dumas would replace him in the Signatech Alpine.

The magazine tells that this information needs to be confirmed by Toyota's officials.

Would be some crazy redemption story if Lapierre was the guy to break Toyota's LM jinx. He's certainly done himself a lot of favours since dropping down to P2.

Lapierre/Sarrazin/Hirakawa would be very decent I think. Maybe not on the absolute pace but good enough to be there or thereabouts after 24 hours. Would also be great to see Dumas back at Le Mans too. Too many great drivers on the sidelines currently.

Hirakawa is quick, and has a full season of LMP2 under his belt. Kunimoto is probably even faster, but would be more or less going into ACO racing blind. With the safe hands* of Lapierre & Sarrazin behind them I'd not be surprised if whichever of the two gets the seat was told to push.

In the DSC report, Signatech's Philippe Sinault is quoted:


“After a magnificent season in 2016 with Alpine, Stéphane Richelmi has taken up a great opportunity to drive for a top team in the GT class and we wish him the very best.

He was announced as part of WRT's Blancpain lineup a couple of weeks back, so is he going to be concentrating on that for this season, or is there maybe some more GT news to come?
