Some of us prefer racecars not just to be fast, but also good looking. If you have a different opinion, fine with me, please allow me to have my own as well.

if they go for the older looking car (more boxy one), they'll get even more dispensations so then they'll get further up the grid

The current Lada WTCC car isn't in production any more so I think Russian Bears must change the car if they want to get some support from the factory. Priora (facelifted 110) is the current production model unlike the other car (Siluet/Project C/2116) which is about to enter production in 2010...
The problem, how ever, isn't the ugliness of Priora, but engine. There isn't a 2-litre version of it is unlikely we'll see an Opel-powered Priora, because Renault now owns a part of VAZ. New 2116 is supposed to have a 2 litre Renault engine, but it won't be ready any time soon. |

Was something wrong with my hearing or did Martin Haven say that Lada is planning two teams next year? A works team competing with BMW, Seat, Chevrolet and Honda ... and a team competing in the independants cup.

The 2007 Lada Project C was developed in cooperation with Magna-Steyr (the 3-door Lada C-Concept was also developed during this cooperation). Both are supposed to have a 2litre engine.
In 1996, when the Lada 110 2.0 16V (21106) was unveiled (see also http://lamda-motorsport.blogspot.com...0-20-wtcc.html), AvtoVAZ was very close to GM (later they introduced the jv GM-AvtoVAZ). Now after the Renault acquisition of the 25% of AvtoVAZ the things have changed and maybe we should expect a 2-litre Priora "powered by Renault", so there will be no problem with an S2000 homologation. Another possible solution could be the VAZ-21203 2.0 16V engine designed and produced by AvtoVAZ: |

Why not using the current car next year and develop a S2000 car on the new LADA 2116 for 2010? |

To be honest, i'd prefer to see a Lada 2116 WTCC instead of a Lada Priora WTCC...

As Lotti confirmed there will be Russian event in 2010. Three places are discussed:Moscow,Saint-Petersburg,Togliatti(if I write right). The last one is Lada-city.
In all cases it is going to be held in the city. So,it would be a street course,as none of that cities has a race track..So,Lotti leaves some space for the maneuvers if there won't be any Lada factory team in 2010. |

same question was brought up for Bucharest FIA GT event . but at least in our case . there was no circuit to use
i guess a city circuit is easier to "sell" to non motorsport fans |

I've heard, new factory Lada car will be based on Priora model. Little difference.
And also Lotti said in Moscow that he hope to use Domodedovo track, but he isn't sure that track will be ready in time |

They will still be the laughing stock of the grid, I am not sure what they will achieve?
