The Morgan Aero 8 has to be one of the ugliest sports cars of recent years. Such a shame for a great make using great (BMW) running gear.

The Triumph Acclaim was also the first Honda based BL/Rover/etc. a legacy which survives today with the Rover 45/MG ZS.

Ami ain't that bad, but that reminds me (the back-leaning rear window) the 1958-1960 Lincolns. like THIS example from 1958.

While not exactly ugly in and of itself, compared to the original, the awful, awful styling of the new Dodge Charger R/T (Detroit Motor Show) imakes me feel ill. Honest.

It's not that bad - but it does appear to have a surplus of doors to the number of two...

I'll go for the Scorpio for the worst design in recent times though. What a stupid grill and the lights were too large. The car looked good from the rear however.

I'll keep my eyes thankyou. When you look at the other Ferraris, Lamborghinis, Porches 911 (yes I know the new ones a lazy update but it still looks great) and the Pagani Zonda, IMO I can say that whoever designed that car and whoever approved of it need to go out and get a thorough eye test and then need to be sacked. A bit strong I know but that car is a shocker by Ferraris usually wonderful standards.

There's a brand new contender for the title - the Ssangyong Rodius.

Not being familiar with the vehicle in question, I did a Google search on it. Man Alive, that's nasty. It's a combination of a Mercedes front end, Citroen Picasso middle and a Dormer window grafted on the back.

Blimey, that is ugly.

I agree emphatically about the current Micra being ugly. 'Simpology' my backside... The only 'ology' Nissan should be making about that car is an apology.

Not a fan of the 612 Ferrari, though I'm sure it is very good.

What do people think of the new Focus? The old one was, though not beautiful, a bit different and matured quite well - the higher end models weren't too bad at all. The new one is dull at best. At worst, bordering on ugly?

I was going to mention the Focus. How disappointing is that?

"When corporate think-tanks go bad" shall be the name of the film. It is a disgusting foul car - the old one was classy, in an alternative sort of way. It was a genuinely shocking yet beautiful car - the new edge design from Ford still looks good today...the Focus hasn't aged (on the outside, at least) and the Ka is still a huge seller nearly 10 years on.

The new Focus is the automotive equivalent of a middle-aged paunch. It hints at good looks past.

As I mentioned in my previous post, a website held an "Ugly Car" contest. The list of finalists, in order from least ugliest to ugliest based on votes, can be veiwed here...
http://www.cartalk.com/content/featu...r/winners.html

Here is a quote describing the winning car: Ever seen this car from behind? It's like getting behind a horse that's ready to drop a load. — Susan

Apparently we were wrong about this car!

I've just read a review in my local Evening Press. The reporter describes the design as a 'revolution at the top-end of the large MPV market'. The piece goes on to say that the car has 'dramatic looks' and that 'instead of adopting the normal MPV monospace shape, Greenley (the designer) has given the Rodius a strong, stand-out look that will make it an unusual head-turner'. Finally, we end with 'the vehicle's value aspect, like the looks, should be simply outstanding'.

So, there you go, the Ssang Yong Rodius - not an ugly car!!!!!

Ah, the motoring pages of local papers. You've got to love 'em. They'll never give a car anything less than 8 out of 10 in any department for fear of being struck off that company's press car list...

That's a brilliant piece of creative writing about the Rodius though!

I thought so 'who thought MPV's could be sassy and sexy' was another one of my favoured lines form the same article!

I think that you are right Garcon. The only car I've seen slagged off in those pages is the new Nissan Micra and it was done in such a way which made you think the writer was being a bit of a nit-picker, rather than there being much actually wrong with the car.

To get back to the thread, most of the big Mercs, with their 'bug eyes', could do with some restling.
