How much money do you think that Porsche makes off its GTs?
They will sell it to virtually anyone with a brain and the cash to buy it, and there are so many of them out there, surely Porsche must be making a profit off it. Does anyone know exactly how much and if this might be funding for the long awaited return of the factory?

Well, I guess they must be making quite a few bob out of them, H, but I doubt that they need the money to fund a factory return.
On the other hand, if they do, lets hope they can sell a few more - I'd dearly love to see them back - with a closed GTP!! |

Agreed.
I like the fact that any rich fool can buy a GT and enter it though, it's always entertaining to see a couple of cowboy teams with no experience but loads of enthusiasm. |

I could have strangled the prat. Boutsen's career was ended - he could easily have been more seriously hurt - and a possible winning car was eliminated. Strangely I returned from PQ that year with two impressions from the pits. First Boutsen's total relaxation and second the Estoril cowboys with their playboy hairstyles, shades and yellow overalls, strutting up and down like they were the stars of the show. Sorry Blue2, inexperienced W@**ers may be entertaining, but only if you go to watch just for the shunts or near misses. |

I don't know how relevant this is but a friend from Le Mans heard this on Radio Le Mans:
Porsche will supply spares to teams and demand payment later.... unless your names Tim Lee-Davey! I guess that they usually expect to receive payment! |

I've heard that they've made around 150 GT3s, each of which must cost at least £100,000. Factor in the masses of spares/updates required and they might do £250,000 per vehicle. Not bad going when you consider that they don't appear to need to advertise them!
If only Maserati, Ferrari, Jaguar, BMW had sufficient faith in their product to offer off-the-shelf racecars! |
