Canadian GP and Support Series

Hey there to all Canucks;
Does anybody has an idea yet who will be participating in the 2010 F1 in beloved Montreal?

Will the usual suspects be there? Like FF1600; VW Jetta Cup; the new US F2000 Series?

Had heard a rumour a while ago from a FBMW team that they might consider shipping cars to Montreal - kind of an OFF the Series deal - any truth to it or just winter talk?

As I wrote here, Atlantics might be joining the Canadian GP. USF2000 seems to me unlikely - they have their two short oval races on May 27 (Indianapolis Raceway Park) and June 19-20 (Iowa).

The full schedule often isn't announced until weeks before the race....

Indeed there was a rumour that Atlantic was in discussions to be a support race - I'm hoping that can be the case... even if it's the only Atlantic race they pull off next season.

The Ferrari Challenge is almost guaranteed - it's basically a bunch of Ontario/Quebec Ferrari drivers destroying....err... racing their expensive machines.

As for the rest, we'll see... the supporting tickets to the Canadian GP had been pretty poor the last few years.

^^ That's fantastic news! The historic series is probably one of the best support series the grand prix has had... much more interesting than wathing a bunch of rich kids crash spec cars all over the place. It turns the track into a museum for a few hours, and then they always leave the cars out for the fans to inspect every detail.

Thats nice considering the Atlantics are scrubbed. I doubt there will be much in the way of support races, considering the "Road to Indy" series cars won't be there, nor will CASCAR or Canadian Touring Cars.

Yeah, if you like tin-tops, the NASCAR weekend in August is probably the one to go to anyway... I might check that out for the first time actually.

I've observed that support races for the Grand Prix aren't that important for the fans though - most F1 fans barely even know other series exist. They arrive just intime for the F1 sessions and leave immediately afterwards, so I don't think the organisers feel a major push to bring in more support series.
