I guess the ride will go to who ever pays for it. Its interesting that, without Morris, i don't have a clue who will win the championship. Is this because of the closeness of the drivers, or i don't know who is competing?????????????????????

Firstly- gotta give a big hand to DRT for his persistent optimism. Keep it up!

"People will roll through the gates."
- I could comment on that, but for the sake of peace in the forum I'll shut my mouth. I'll tell ya the best thing TOCA could have ever done was join up with the MPG and join the Power Tour. Look at those few races that they ran next to the trucks at OP- the crowd was huge (albeit they were all there for the Trucks).... The will forever more look rather ****weak trying to do their own thing. To be honest, I can't see it being all that profitable. Then again, what sort of promotional expeses do they have?

Aw...c'mon say it !

Power Tour throw together a good meeting. I just spent last Sunday at Oran Park with them. There were a lot of red flag incidents though which by the end of the day became really frustrating but totally out of their control I guess.

Will be very interesting if they can get their Ute Series up and running. There is a good variation of classes in the one meeting and those NASCARs (V8 Stock Cars) just sound awesome. How many of those things are sitting in garages around Australia waiting to hit the track again ?

the PowerTour is a good package, and TOCA should try and do some kind of deal. If TOCA persist (please no) with these TOCA Tourers, i suppose it would fit in well with the trucks, NASCARS (or V8 stock Cars) and the V8SuperUtes, and they could bring with them their TV Deal with 7.

Anyone know of a firm entry list yet for Oran Park.

No idea on the entry list- probably nothing firm until race morning. The sad thing is that they will probably get only a couple hundred people to the TOCA meeting, but 15,000 at the Power Tour, then the whole show would look a lot more popular.

There are a lot of Nascars around, there was a bit of a surge in their numbers when it was thought that the V8s wouldn't be going back to Indy, but them re-signing kind of killed that.

Obviosuly there are politics, and sadly, egos can get in the road of common sense sometimes...

The Super Tourers joining with power Tour could be a very good thing. More people would be able to get involved with Super Touring who wouldn't usually and a crowd of 15 000 upwards would be great for everyone. Also the pour tour would get better Tv coverage with Channel 7 then. An entry list: The ones I know
Peter Hills
Sam Dale
3rd Mondeo (reportedly Alan Letcher, could be a possibility, also Mark Zonneveld)
David Auger
Luke Searle
Jim Cornish
Jamie Miller
"Apparently" Aaron McGill
Paul Leabeater
2nd Redline Motorsports car ?
Owen Kelly ?
2nd BMW ?
And many more to come.

So that makes a huge feild of approx 7 cars. That should get the punters through the gates.

Well...7 of them might show up...whether they all make it to the actual race day without going "pop" is another story.

Well, is the end near. Apparently the Super Tourers/TOCA Tourers and Commodore Cup will be with the PowerTour at Winton on October 21. Does this mean that Oran Park on October 14 is off, hope not, i was going to go, and what does this mean for the rest of the season. It would be a great move to go with the PowerTour, but whats the point when the PowerTour calendar is almost over. Interesting that the PowerTour seems to have gotten the channel 7 deal from TOCA, but the powertour runs in winter, but then again there will be no AFL to play second fiddle to.

Yes very interesting. I read a similar story in AA. The whole thing seems strange and questionable. The two parties joining forces is nice and easy to grasp. However that the series had minimal entries is questionable. You wouldn't put it past AA to do anything demeaning towards Super Touring. I had spoken to pretty much all of the drivers I had listed and they said they'd be there, no probs. I'll check with all of them though and get back to everyone.
I can't understand why TOCA and the PowerTour would join so late in the PowerTour series, but I move back to winter for the tourers with the PowerTour next season shall be great.
With the PowerTour and Tourers heading the Channel 7 winter sport, only great things can happen for them commercially.

So Morris' team will run two cars for other drivers? Great!

Both the Searles should race in a 2 car BMW team.

Are there any Volvos left in the country? What about the Audis, and Newmans Pugs?

And what is the story about this 96-spec Vectra?

I think they were either returned to TWR or transferred to the STCC.

BJR still has 2-6 of the cars, but they are being sold for too high of a price? I saw a '96 one being sold over her in NA for "just" 55K US!!! That seems like a bargain for ST cars!!

Exactly, what story or thread are you referring about? The only thing that sticks out in my mind is that the Vectra is for sale (??)and was finally upgraded with those '97 spec STW engines in '00/01.

Well I stand corrected! It seems as though someone must have been watching this thread

BJR- I thought they only had 1-2 cars?

The rumours doing circles say that a very low entry for the rescheduled first round are a part of the reason why it fell over...OP always drew a bigger grid than Lakeside, so I guess in a way, we were lucky they didn't come up here.

Apparently some of the TOCA Tourer teams have formed a teams committee, similar to TEGA, and wants to go with the PowerTour, and they apparently have 16 cars for Winton.

Be very unlikely to get a listing out of Winton before the event - they 'don't like that' sort of thing...

Either. Winton and Oran Park are essentially the Power Tour regardless of what they call themselves.

Power Tour are supposed to have us on their distribution list for media releases - think we have had 1 in the past 3 months. A lot of promoting going on...

And, like this week, have had HQ drivers ringing me this week for transmitters - they are claiming they only found out on Monday of last week that they were on the program for the meeting as well.....

They were only told on Monday that they were on the program, thats a bit rough. Even without much promotion, the series gets HUGE crowds, amazing isn't it.
