King Of Kents

How many drivers are serious about entering the King Of Kent's? That is doing the 8 rounds at selected tracks plus the 3 stand alone races? Not just their own Championship plus the 3 races.

I'd wager not all that many. But I don't know. Haven't had too many media forms from people saying they're targetting KoK.

HOLY SH*T!! I am planning to do the NW and KOK championship this year, but had only thought we needed to do two extra races from another region. Will have to have a word with the sponsors, ie Dad, to see whether this is possible. Come to think of it, i best get off ten-tenths and get some bloody work done!

I defo need the WR job now Ian!!

Richard,
Of course you have a chance of getting to nw rounds. No passport needed, just turn left at J18 off the M6.

The provisional regs I saw on the 8 Oct 2003 re the qualifying rounds and the published regs do not differ.
It was always 11 rounds total. 8 scores from regions [no more than 3 per region] plus the 3 KoK stand alones.

Having said that, I too seemed to have it in my head that it was 8 rounds total. God knows where that came from, but a few people obviously think the same.

I recall there being a little bit of ambiguity in the regs, but settled on the 3+3+2+3 route in the end. Maybe it would be better with just eight races in total. In any case, this is a learning year and I am sure the regs will change next year if there is demand.

Still no news on the job Steve?

No, not yet Ian. They were meant to let me know today either way but haven't. Getting a bit peed off now. Hopefully no news is good news, but I'm not holding my breath.

They better bloody hurry up, cos if I have got it i've got to tell them how much time i'll be needing off for testing!

I've been pondering the fact that the King of Kents doesn't appear to have many people making a serious attempt at it. What is needed, methinks, is a slogan to help promote it. The best I have come up with so far is "KoK - suck it and see."

Any other offers?

It needs more than a slogan Ian.......

I know everyone has an idea of how it should have been but to get it started it should have only been 4 rounds -

Mallory Park
Oulton Park
Castle Combe
Brands Festival

I think there's general agreement that the format isn't quite right. My own view is that KoK contests should have been at neutral venues, plus the Festival.

Mr Sowman : This is not one of those sort of websites. Next you'll be advocating "lapping all over the country" Correct spelling intentional.

Am I right in thinking that everything for Silverstone is now firmly on the Saturday?

(Wife has arranged a dinner for Sunday.)

The competition is going to be close, so you might say the Kok is hard?

I fact those that are at the front could be refered to the cream of the Kok
