Anyone know if there's a further option of appeal, or is that going to be it? Not that I'm saying that BAR would/should take that option if there is one.

With BAR excluded from Imola, that means Wurz gets 3rd ( ), Villeneuve gets 4th ( ) and Liuzzi gets a point on his debut!

Does that get us into the whole 3rd car issue? What a mess!

Flip - what's Nick Fry up to and Willis has been caught lying too, as reliable reports document that he denied any fuel tank naughties?
If the detail is correct - no way should they appeal. It's time to take the rap. Does cheating give Jense a clause to leave? Mind you, he must have known, musn't he? |

Disaster for Button and Sato. And BAR will go into round 7 at the Nurburgring with no points on the board. Not looking like 2005 will be a good season.

It does look like Button won't fulfil the performance clause in his contract, so he may well be off to Williams in 2006.

After reading this quote from Max, I must agree it was lenient, but nevertheless I'm surprised at the suspension. I wonder how Button will react??
" The team was asked to pump the fuel out of their car. They left 15 litres in the tank and told us it was empty. "Under the circumstances, we feel they have been treated rather leniently." |

If they were only found guilty of using fuel as ballast, the penalty sort of fits the crime.

Is Button banned?
Could he theoretically race for another team in the two races? |

Just to clarify, Imola results are thrown out, and they miss Spain and Monte Carlo. They got off lightly. |

Nice One.
They got what they deserve. If they were banned for the year, honda and BAR probably would have pulled out altogether as it would been a waste of money, just having people and assets sitting there costing money, |

Check this quote out from the ITV-F1 website ...
Fry declared himself satisfied with the way the arguments played out in the Paris coutroom. "Generally I’m very happy with proceedings," he said. "I am very, very proud of what all the team members did. I think they presented themselves absolutely superbly and with huge professionalism and integrity." Flip - a very proud and professional bunch of cheats, who managed to fiddle the fuel and stand up in court to defend what they did without feeling it affected their integrity. Blooming shameful. I wonder if Mr Honda will take action? |

This is unnecessary, and has nothing to do with the thread. Do not turn this into a bash Button thread or it'll be closed immediately. |

Well, well, well.
From the evidence and the consideration of intent I feel the two race ban is appropriate. There are issues: Will BAR appeal, at the moment it seems not. Will we have a couple of races with three car teams? Well Bernie has said it is impossible for Spain because it is too short notice. Is it worth bothering for one race? I guess this may be worth a separate thread (?). |
