Hi Jon.

Actually it is Zakia Redjep, probably the hairiest man in motor racing in the sixties. He ran a second hand car dealership just off the "Sun in the Sands" by the A2. That will get your dads memory moving.

Also John Searby racing on a shoe string complete with the old mig welded A series rocker mod ![/QUOTE]
If anybody`s interested, John Searby did about 2/3 of a season in 1987, having never raced before, in a 1430cc class C A40. Realising that 5 bearing 1500 cc Anglias were too much opposition, he then switched to class D for 1988 with a 998cc Miglia spec engine and won the Championship, so the arc (not mig) welded rockers seem to work! He then ran a 1000cc short stroker for 1989 and retired in 1990 as everything was getting too expensive.
It`s nice to see there are still one or two A40s still out there trying to beat the Imps.

Hi Lanciaman - welcome to 10 tenths. It seems you know John. If you do please give him my regards (Peter Wray).

I think his A40 went down to Kent (Clive ??) and used in the ICS series in the mid-90s but I've lost track of it since.

Yes, Clive Reader was the name. I think he was a mate of David Bridger who raced the ex-David Lewis A40 (1430cc ?) at that time.

Hello Chaps,

I was just looking through the internet trying to find information about my car, when I stumbled across this forum. I was suprised to see pictures of my car in period and wondered if anyone has any more photos or information on it. Just thought I would include some photos of its current state, as I rescued.

Hi Pete welcome to the forum. Well whatever killed him it was a sad day, but that was a very bad crash and it certainly didn't help !
How things have changed over the years, I seem to recall most of the clubbies at Brands were packed with spectators and there were a lot of crashes and injuries and unfortunately a few deaths.
Looking on the dark side maybe that was why it was so popular back then ?
Back on topic, where the hell has your old car been hiding for all these years ?

hi Luca A40 No 126 was our first car in 1964 i drove it and Ginger Payne drove it in1965 we both held the lap record at Brands with it .It was sold to somebody in Scotland in 65 .We then built the second car in 66 and i drove it,that car was also sold to somebody in Scotland and is the car that has just been found after 40 years Peter Bevan
