Damaged Rims: Repair? Replace?

Last night I managed to clout something hard with my front-right wheel, bending the outer rim of my alloy wheel inward by about 2cm.

It blew the tyre too.

Could it be possible to repair the wheel, or am I more likely to have to replace it?

Ta.

It sounds as though it may be repairable; talk to a good wheel specialist.

You should also have the tracking checked - a knock severe enough to damage a wheel has probably affected the steering alignment.

The steering alignment is rooted. Dad took the car for a research run while I was asleep this morning and said that at 100kph the vibration was awful and that at 140kph it kept changing lanes on its own.

I have a feeling that my wheel specialist will be trying to send me a new wheel, though...

Well, I bit the bullet and bought a new wheel, as the old one was cracked as well as bent.

I did, however, find a new use for the damaged rim.

Phew that was lucky!

Just think you might have been driving around with awful wheels like that.
